My apologies if this sounds very glib as real lives are involved, but why does this whole submarine tragedy/mess seem like something from Succession. Either fitting Kendall's water motif, or some kind of mishap gone wrong for Connor, or a reference in a season premiere which Roman was tied up in and tries to push down with a bitter one-liner.
