Help me name a character!
OK fam. So as many of you know, I'm working on a scrubbed edit of "Performance in a Leading Role." I have been working on this for a frustratingly long time (I am rewriting it from the top down, every word). It's been long enough living with the new version that I really no longer see the characters as their original fanfic versions.
Nick Mackenzie: an American Everyman actor known for starring in romantic comedies and playing an appealing male lead. He longs to escape the confines of this genre, and gets his chance when he is cast in "To a Stranger," a prestige film about a same-sex relationship. Nick is sort of a Charlie Cox/Mark Ruffalo/Ewan McGregor type of actor. He's known for being affable and easygoing. He is bisexual but not public about it.
Jamie (Jamison) [Last Name Pending]: a British Oscar winner, Shakespearean, known to be somewhat prickly and difficult with his devotion to The Craft. He doesn't have a very high opinion of his new co-star, but that changes quickly. Jamie is tall and muscular and is constantly fending off potential Bond rumors. He is a bit of Henry Cavill/Alan Ritchson (but not THAT massive)/Tom Hardy type.
Here's my issue. Jamie's last name was originally Carr, but I've been advised that it's too similar to comedian Jimmy Carr (who I was not familiar with). So I need to pick a new last name for Jamie. My criteria are: one syllable, common to the UK but not one of the top 20 most common ones.
TBH I'm not wild about Nick's last name either, Mackenzie is a bit of a placeholder.
What should Jamie's name be?
