Someone waking up with the stuffiest head cold
Their mouth was open while they slept, the only way they could get air, so their mouth and throat are terribly dry as their eyes squint open. They start coughing immediately, chest aching as they struggle to sit up. Their nose feels solid and cold, and when they rub it, it gives a half-hearted squelch.
They can feel the pressure in their ears when they swallow. God, their nose was clear when they went to bed after a particularly cleansing sneezing fit, but now it seems all the mucus in the world had crammed itself into their already tightly packed sinuses.
Attempting to exhale through their nose makes them cough again, not so much as a sliver of air escaping their poor nose. So they grab for the tissue box and blow into a sloppy handful, and it takes four attempts before anything comes out.
The mess is incredibly thick, sticky, and a sickly yellow in color. It's goopy and awful and they just blow and blow and blow, desperate to clean themselves out. It takes over three minutes of consistent blow-sniffle-grab tissue-repeat before they're final satisfied. They still struggle to breathe a bit just due to their swollen sinuses, but they sigh in relief nonetheless.
Then, without warning, their nose starts to tickle...
