Where are the readers?

As an fanfic author, I have literally no idea how to reach a readership any longer. I started writing back when LiveJournal was still a thing, and it was so easy. Join a community, post your link whenever you had a new chapter and BAM! People read your stuff.

Now I’m in a new fandom and no one knows me from the mamushka and I’m seriously starting to wonder if I should keep writing or just... not? Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get noticed now, or are all the writers these days screwed unless they’re BNFs?
