3.15 doc benton and his science of immortality. large scale fandom interprets sam’s interest in this as ‘we can live forever together’ (possessive connotation) but i think this is a misinterpretation of sam’s intentions. they have been pursuing information through demons abt who holds dean’s contract (and looking for bela to gain the colt back) but they’re running out of time. this was about finding a loophole (very pre law of sam <3) in the contract. if dean cannot die, he can’t go to hell and they can buy more time to find a more permanent solution. only bc dean is worried that if he is unable to die that it might affect sam (may cause the contract to be nullified) and take his life back does sam offer to also perform the science on himself too (to satisfy dean’s worry) the task of immortality was specific to the context of preventing his impending body death (and nowhere was sam implying they were going to kill victims for body parts)
