College Entrance Essay
A true capitalist once told me to either; deal with my situation, or kill myself.
I last attended school at Cincinnati State, focusing on an Associate's in Audio/Video. Coming from a low-income household; I never had money to spare, neither did my family. So when it came time to pay bills, everyone had to do their part. So imagine the pain felt when I was told I was "lazy" because I had to miss classes in order to work. Missing those classes led to Academic Probation, which led to me withdrawing because my Financial Aid was no longer accepted. Saddest part was I earned passing grades in those classes and only failed due to an archaic Attendance policy.
Now that I was out of school, my mother stopped receiving Gov. Assistance on my behalf and the bills, that were in my name, began to pile up. So imagine the pain felt when she evicted me; leaving me "homeless" and in debt. But look at me now; slowly fighting my way out of debt, tirelessly working towards my musical dreams, still struggling.
College life, from what I remember, is a struggle in itself, but a college degree will help me escape these struggles. So if you want a display of persistence??
I'm a 27-year old black man who grew up struggling. I'm looking to sign on for more struggles, in attempt to cease all of my struggling once and for all.
Because, to succeed, I'll fight endlessly before I kill myself.
