Ahfkah ok now that I'm thinking about 3below and toby specifically I just remembered an old theory of mine

Back before 3below came out i hella headcannoned that if Jim was the Trollhunter and Claire could use the shadow staff (ie Wizard) then Toby probably fit in aliens.

Thinking about it, it actually kinda made sense? His parents died in a storm on a cruise they had won (x)

While it's possible, its highly unlikely. Kinda like how Krel and Aja's backstory of escaping a coup from Cantalopia is possible, but unlikely. We as the audience know that they are escaping a coup, but arent from Cantalopia. What if Toby's parents did die in a storm, but not on a cruise?

In addition, I wonder about the disguises. Stuart mentioned how his was a lower quality which resulted in his fat apperance. What if Toby was also using this antiquated technology? In the first episode Jim comments that Toby has been on a 14 year diet (and only 15 years old). Toby could simply be fat, but if someone dieted for that long maybe the reason he saw no change was because his physical form is more like a costume than a body? The same principle would apply to his teeth and explain why he has had braces for so long and expects to have them for about another decade (I wanna get these off before I'm 30 jimbo) because Toby was raised human and thinks his body will change accordingly

I no longer stand behind this head canon, but I do think there is an interesting amount of evidence to support alien!Toby

So I finally figured out what I wanted to do with Alien Toby! I don’t know what to call his species yet but I have figured out his biology!

So Toby is a bit of a mix between an amphibian and a reptile. He has a rough skin that both feels a bit like a dry slimyness. Much like an amphibian he needs lots of water and a high humidity. He is able to take in oxygen through his skin making him particularly sensitive to things in the water. His kind are ambush predators that lived in marshy shallow swamps. They are notorious across the galaxy as being one of the most dangerous creatures. He is both poisonous and venomous.

Humans have naturally occurring immunities to his venom and poison. While his venom and poison are very deadly for most of the galaxy it is not potent enough to kill a human but you won’t be feeling good for a while

Due to Toby’s skull structure he can’t change his expression much in his face. His ears, eyes, and frill are what express the most. Depending upon how he’s feeling his eyes will change color. Much like a blue tunged skink his tung is blue to startle the predators of his home planet. His teeth are less like teeth and are more like bony protrusions from his jaw. They continuously grow so he has to chew on hard things to keep them in check. Toby does not have gills. The green ribs on his neck are external venom glands.

He has large hard coated fingers that while look like claws he can still bend them and grab things with. The pads of his hands and all have the same kind of ridges that geckos do allowing him to climb and stick to any surface. He also does not have any hair, instead he has modified quills that attract parasites then kill them allowing him to stay completely parasite free no matter what he gets into.

All of his limbs (except for the tail) are able to function like arms and hands. He can switch how he walks fluidly. His spine is very flexible and built to allow him to walk in what ever orientation he so pleases without any pain. He is bigger than his human form but he is still relatively small. He is fully grown and will not be getting any bigger. Despite what most of the universe believes he is still the wonderful Toby that we all know and love. He is however much scarier when fighting with his hammer in his natural form than he is as a human. He is not the fastest but there is no stopping him when he wants to get somewhere.

I had a very strange dream last night i dreamt of

The group are doing something when thay encounter some creepers and have to fight them

Steve summon the amulet of daylight

Jim dropped his human glamour and turn into troll jim

Toby had a badass moment whear he reveals that his akiridion

Claire starts casting spells left and right with her staff

Eli just watched from the sidelines

After the fights over thay all gather round and we're like

Alien Toby/troll jim: dos it look bad

Trollhunter Steve/Eli: nooooooo

Claire: you hesitated

Idk it looked pretty cool in my dream

I've seen the alien!Toby theory gaining some traction, so I just want to say, please keep in mind that Toby was canonically Jewish in the original novel and there is an antisemitic reptile alien conspiracy theory irl. I don't want to be a killjoy, and I don't think (?) the theory itself is antisemitic, plus most people in the Trollhunters fandom haven't read the book. But this has been making me deeply uncomfortable, so just... be careful with it, okay? And be aware that this is close to something that hurts real people.
