When Stormfather calls Kaladin a “son of Tanavast” do you think he’s comparing him to himself? I’ve always assumed that Tanavast and Koravellium are like the Bondsmith spren’s parents.

The meaning of Kaladin being "a son of Tanavast" is one of my favourite things about the books. As you may know, no one else has been called that but him.

Do I think he is comparing Kal with himself? Not exactly. The Stormfather is the largest remnant of Honor, the shard held by Tanavast, so there is a connection between Tan and the Stormfather, but I don't think that's what he means. In my opinion, he's comparing Kaladin to Tanavast as a human not as a vessel. Either Kal is a direct descendant of Tanavast or Kal's behavour/ethics match up with Tan's so much that the Stormfather sees him in Kaladin.

What does it all mean? Why is it relevant to the story? No idea at all. At first I thought it would be connected to Kaladin being the new vessel of a somehow resurrected Honor. Right now, my theory is falling into pieces, specially after something that happenned in Rhythm of War involving yellow eyes. Although I will die defending this crack theory.

This were my first and second post about Kal as Honor's vessel and this is my latest about how could it be done. They are in need of some editing tbh.

That said, I don't have the truth. It's just my take on the little informarion we have up to this point.

Almost forgot about it, Tanavast and Toravellium's shards are the Sibling's parents not the Stormfather's (he had a father and no mother, just like the Nightwatcher had a mother a no father). As far as I know, there is none of the human vessels in the spren, only the shards can be considered as parents. Somebody correct me if that's wrong.
