Sorry if this is ignorant but how can Sanjio have kids if he's paralyzed? Are they adopted?

The limbs may be frozen, but the plumbing still works. ;)

I actually did quite a bit of research when designing Sanjio's character to make sure his condition was at least somewhat accurate. I was surprised to learn that there are varying degrees of quadriplegia. Very rarely is someone 100% unable to move, and even then, most if not all of their organs may work perfectly fine. It just kinda depends on the cause and location of the issue causing the paralysis.

In Sanjio's case, his head is tilted oddly which suggests a deformed neck/upper spine, and this is likely the source of his paralysis. He has no control over his arms and legs, but he can move one of his hands from the wrist down (he uses this hand to control his motorized chair), wiggle his toes, and open/close his jaw somewhat. He can move his tongue and swallow, but he's unable to form coherent words, so he uses telepathy to communicate. He expresses himself the most with his eyes and eyebrows.

Despite all that, his organs are unaffected. (Maybe this is how he's managed to survive so long in his condition?) Believe it or not, a lot of quadriplegics have functioning sex organs, and they can and do go on to have children naturally.

I didn't consider adoption, but now that you mention it, I think that's a great idea! I think he will have some children by blood and at least one disabled child that he adopted from his own charity orphanage. He would be a great father to such a child.

Omg! Can a Mecheskema fix Sanjios disability? Would Ojio even do it? Since he apparently hated his brothers...

Good question! The following answer contains spoilers, so I will place it under a cut.

After Ojio earns big $$$ from his ChroMight profits, he starts a project to help people escape from Damijana. This includes rescuing Damijana prisoners and slaves too. Of course he prioritizes his family first, so Tarajeen and his brothers are among the first waves of folks he yanks out of there.

30 years of enslavement has given Ojio a lot of time to think, and he has come to regret the way he treated his brothers in the past. While he was lying in his cell, robbed of his freedom, he began to empathize with the way Sanjio and Thio must feel imprisoned not only in their own bodies, but in the nursing home he forced them into.

Now that Ojio has the means to help them, he brings them to his property in Zareen Capital and offers to cover all their living expenses, buying them fancy clothes, vacations, and anything they desire to make up for the way he treated them. He even offers Sanjio a Mechaskema so that he can finally have a mobile body.

To his surprise, Sanjio refuses it, explaining that his disability is also his superpower. If he weren't bound to a chair his whole life, he never would have been forced to expand his mind and become the super-genius he is today. He fears that becoming mobile would distract him from his mental pursuits, even telling Ojio, "Your little robot suit would only hold me back from my full potential."

Ojio feels rather insulted and just can't understand his point of view, and the two butt heads over this. Sanjio is still angry with him for shoving him in that horrible nursing home for so long. The brothers continue to have a strained relationship, but Ojio still feels guilty for what he did to them, so he continues to shuffle money at them to make sure they have the best quality of life possible.

But Sanjio does not want a free ride, and he promises Ojio that he will pay him back someday. He does not see this money as a gift, but a loan, and invests it wisely. Ojio is impressed when Sanjio manages to multiply his fortune quickly, and not only pay him back, but start his own charity to help disabled people. Sanjio contributes a lot to the world of academia, eventually getting hired by the World Athenaeum's prestigious think tank. He becomes a world-famous philosopher and philanthropist, meanwhile Ojio's reputation just gets worse and worse as he makes bad business decisions, crashes out repeatedly, gets addicted to drugs, etc.

Ojio becomes an insane coked-out techbro who is always in the news for embarrassing reasons, while Sanjio earns an honorable living contributing to the world of science. Sanjio also lands himself a smokin' hot doctor wife and they have several children together, living happily in a big house with Thio, some hired servants and caregivers.

Sanjio's amazing success makes Ojio terribly jealous and insecure, and he crashes out even more over it. They are both smart men, but they contrast each other in the ways they see the world and how they react to it. Ojio is always asking "how", while Sanjio asks "why". Ojio has more technical knowledge while Sanjio has more philosophical knowledge. Occasionally they join forces, begrudgingly putting aside their differences to accomplish something important, but otherwise their relationship remains pretty strained.
