So I forgot the password for this account and it took me this long to finally sit down and click on "Forgot Password" and reset it. Oh, well.

In a very general, very open update: I passed GATE! I am doing my Masters in Communication and Networks (a bit different from my day as a CS undergrad) but I am genuinely nothing but grateful and thankful and all those things that I get to study at a college as good as the one I currently got into.

This is one of those things that strike you a lot later — Trust the work you put in. Trust your ability do difficult things. I have videos of me crying from frustration at this unnecessarily competitive exam prep and I also have the video of me getting my ID Card at my new college. The things you want will come to you. Trust the work you put in.

currently watching: religiously watching Derry Girls, Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Two Broke Girls. I don't think I have the capacity to watch anything new but I recently caught Project Hail Mary in theaters and god. Cosmic hopecore indeed.

currently reading: Kim Jiyoung, Born 1982 by Cho Namjoo. I'm having an on and off relationship with it because finals are from this week, but I am definitely enjoying it. Also reading the last volume of Remnants of Filth.

current obsession: I put my Japanese on hold for so long I think I've forgotten how to read it anymore but recently I've been getting back into it.

currently working on: my research project, finals and placements!

Currently reading: Days at the Morisaki Bookshop by Yagisawa Satoshi and Thousand Autumns by Meng Xi Shi — I am always of the belief that you should be reading at least two books at once, and one of them should be an utterly self-indulgent pleasure read.

Currently watching: Nothing because its the last stretch before finals but every now and then I will give in to my Mamma Mia! craving and rewatch it.

Currently craving: A fat bowl of ramen and a good beer/whiskey. It really fixes you.

I have been losing more hope than anything else. But I persevere. I am doing a lot of Questions from previous years and it's helping me solve older question papers, I want to scrape an 80 at least. Got my admit card today so the reality of it is dawning on me with crushing terror. I think I've lost the ability to sleep properly. God, please let this work out in my favour, I'm genuinely out of steam...

GATE prep is giving me actual 12th grade war flashbacks. But at least this time round I am studying things that I understand, have studied before, and love.

I should've just started a computer repair store like <the greatest technician that ever lived> but capitalism has already ruined that career path for me.

Even as I fall kind of in love with Computer Organization and Architecture, I really wish there wasn't an exam at the end of it because it's just so fun.

Am I doing well academically? No.

Do I like my Discrete Mathematics syllabus? Also no.

This has also reminded me that maybe I do like corporate and HR may not be so bad after all. Just have to avoid zumba on Fridays...

Well, a month has passed since I posted so I'm calling an end to my DoP 2024. Too many things happened in this month all of a sudden and I have not gotten a chance to open a single book much less keep track of the things i did in a day. Having a plan was useless because something else would come up that would take the entire day. oh well.

It is not something to regret, in any case, as I am trying to learn how to deal with unforeseen circumstances and sudden changes in plans over the past month and this month. Everything is a learning experience. As someone who over-prepares for everything and has back up plans for back up plans, this past month definitely took a toll on me mentally. Slowly recovering and coming back full strength for the upcoming months.

I am back to posting this month, and will try to keep it regular as before.
