I feel like adult Lottie's main purpose in the story was to re-introduce crazy cult stuff back into the group, and she'd already fulfilled that purpose, so

I would be curious what other people saw her doing for the story going forward, because I totally agree with you. I think shes fulfilled her purpose as a character by bringing them all together and getting them to have conversations they otherwise never would have had. She also sparked callies curiosity and desire to know more about shauna/the yellowjackets in general. and now she can impact the story further by being the catalyst for callie really beginning to question what shaunas truly capable of. We see callie in the trailer wondering if her mom is in a fact a bad person, which leads me to believe Callie is going to wonder if Shauna is responsible for lotties death, and thats going to spark an evolution in both characters.

As much as people maybe dont acknowledge it, if this show has a main character its Shauna. we'll likely start and end the show with her, and its the question her true nature thats at the core of this season, so it has to be addressed in both timelines. lotties death suddenly makes it very difficult for shauna to avoid certain truths because callie will now just keep digging until she finds them. personally i think if thats the case then yeah this death rly did have to happen now, as much as i would have loved more of adult lottie

There are some great episodes after season 10, but imho the show peaked between seasons 3 - 8.
