Since the Smutt Pedlar line is super niche (congrats on your deal), I was wondering if you used an agent or approached them yourself?
I approached Iron Circus Comics myself, since I was a part of the Smut Peddler 2014 anthology and Spike knows my work. ICC has open submissions, though, so anyone can send in a pitch. If you get an offer, definitely approach agents or a lawyer to look over your contract! I’ve worked with Katie Lane before and she’s great.
My next graphic novel is through a traditional book publisher-- it’s a middle grade fantasy story about queer kids and magic!-- and I queried and signed with a literary agent before we went out on submission last fall. (I’m still working on the script, but I’m hoping to talk about it more soon!)
