I understand many people struggle with the ability to live in their own two worlds but I never understood why society always made me have to choose. It’s never been a choice for me! I grew up in a household where I learned negro spirituals and Shinnecock social songs. Where the beauty that is my ancestry was taught to me in a way that let me understand the shared history, connection, and resiliency of both my cultures.
