The region’s “chemical genies” of the early 20th century were heralded as reaching into the future to create a more abundant life for all. Instead, they deprived future generations of their health and well-being.
Handy project from CityLab, making use of multimedia to explore toxic waste surrounding Niagra Falls. While it’s an excellently-presented piece, I couldn’t help but feel the irony when pairing it with the article from Mah. The CityLab piece has its own “blank spots,” as it contains no direct mention of the Highland community, despite showing a map which contains the neighborhood. Instead, it chooses to focus on Love Canal.
