I have just been sent invites to "Candy Crush Saga." Candy. Crush. Saga. WHAT THE GOD DAMNED BASTARDISATION OF WORDS IS THIS The Odyssey is a Saga. The Illuminatus! trilogy is a Saga. Erik the Viking is the most Saga-y of Sagas. CANDY CRUSH IS IRRELEVANT SUGARS BEING DEPOSITED IN SHINY, POINT GIVING WAYS. IT IS NOT EPIC OR NARRATIVELY COMPELLING IN ANY POSSIBLE SENSE. Irrelevancy is fun. Shiny, happy making fluff can be enjoyable, even rewarding on some level of instant gratification. But it is in no way moving, or thought provoking, or hearkens back to the days of sitting around a burning fire, wrapped in furs and grasping delectable mead, being regaled with long involving epics encompassing great battles, the making of heroes and the death of the Old Gods. I will not be fed mediocrity and agree to call it brilliance. The good must be shared, the brilliantly terrible must be mocked, and the forgettable, lazy and uninspired must be ignored and forgotten.
