swap vs. ava: fight!
Things are About to Get Interesting
((Of course instinctively you’re like, “Ooh, yay. More Shinigami….”))
((But then you think, “…Ooh. ‘More’ Shinigami.”))
While Ciel and his Phantomhive Household managed to take care of the Queen’s request at long last, little do they know that there are even greater schemes in the work that await them in the future as a familiar person begins to scour the grounds collecting the souls of those they had defeated a mere few minutes ago.
However these two are not quite in league with the ones they encountered as; one, they are dressed rather modernly compared to the Shinigami Ciel and the others have already met. And two, they are speaking in German.
Well I suppose it’s only logical that having an operation as big and complex as harvesting the souls of the dead would require various branches to sort each one out. The question is, ‘what’ does it all mean with the English Branch sending them documents concerning Ciel and Sebastian?
Are they finally making their move on the elusive demon and child after the Circus incident? Does it perhaps also involve Undertaker? And what knowledge have they possibly uncovered between the boy and his Demon that could endanger their goals of finding the culprits who destroyed his family?
So many questions abound with the appearance of these two, and it’s anyone’s guess when they may show up again in the future-or if there are even more Shinigami Branches to enter the picture.
But what we all know for sure is that their journey is ‘far’ from being over as the plot continues to thicken on this thorny path to the truth.
Breach of Trust
Looks like Hilde made a 'small' miscalculation in openly firing at Ciel's party, as her subordinate, Wolfram, had been witnessing it all from the shadows.
Had she actually made it 'look' like she was concerned with whether or not the person they were pursuing was in fact the real Sullivan, he'd probably have continued to act as their support from close-range and impeded there targets.
However seeing them not hold back confirms his growing suspicions with his own regiment, and that his Major had not developed even a single feeling of compassion towards the child whom they'd taken complete advantage of, let alone affection.
Although a sad part of me feels he might sacrifice himself for Sullivan's sake, as well as to repent for all that he'd done to her, the more optimistic part hopes he'll join them and add to the international butler club once he’s earned the right and trust from his Lady again.
((Hey, you can never have 'too' many butlers in a series.))
Our Butler is a Superman
Impeccable timing as always.
Having successfully carried out his tasks without a hitch, Sebastian rejoins the others to help wrap up this mission as efficiently as possible to insure he doesn't lose time on his prep work for breakfast.
And after bossing around their Fag comrade, and giving him the assurance that Ciel is in good hands with Sebastian, the gang heads for their only ticket out of this German fairy tale nightmare as they leave their Master and "Superman" Butler to take care of the rest of the cleanup.
Unexpected Advancements
While try as some of them might to retaliate against their pursuers, there’s just no getting around their latest technology that makes it close to impossible to even make a scratch on the surface.
And although Ciel admits to Diedrich that it’s not really a total secret project to the world, since places like England are also trying to attempt such an innovative feat, no one has yet made an official breakthrough of such an incredible magnitude.
It kind of makes you worry and wonder if other such countries have been making technological advances while no one was looking, and what dangers it could pose against the world when Ciel and the gang find out about it.
((And even more curious, if such modern innovations may have had a supernatural hand involved, like Undertaker and the “medicine” he gave to Rian Stoker to bring back the dead.))
"You look just like mice caught in a trap. Trembling close to each other inside that box..."
