Critical Reflection of Second Assignment
Overall I think this project has been a good opportunity to further broaden our experience of social media culture and its uses. Creating original content with a little more quality control, and using social media to promote this content has been a useful experience for us. In contrast with the first assignment rolls were assigned to each member of the group that they would generally stick to throughout the 6 weeks. Gab took care of being camera man and editing and posting the videos. Neave was the main social media output and editor of the blog. I wrote the videos and script and helped with blog updates and social media output.
I think assigning clear rolls to each member and having them consistently do this was useful as everyone has their strengths and weaknesses, and whoever was good at what could stick to that. It also meant that sharing out bits and pieces wasn’t a problem and everyone knew what to do.
I think what could have worked better was the time arrangements between us as each member of the group had different ideal times to work at, meaning to film a video that needed to be edited and released public was sometimes difficult to find a time slot where everyone could make it, meaning we were sometimes behind schedule due to not being able to film earlier. Furthermore everyone needed to be there for the video because Gab was filming, and it was his equipment, we were using Neave’s place to film, and I was playing Aunt Edwina, who was kind of needed for the comedic video we wanted to produce for our target audience of teens.
All in all I think we are all happy with the result of the Late Pancakes channel and Aunt Edwina’s cooking show, a quality, actually funny product that would otherwise have probably not been made.
Babooshka!
