Went to my very first anime con yesterday! Above are pictures of my loot and my bbs USUK, and I’ll put the rest under a cut because... it’s going to be pretty long.
I was pretty amazed by the number of cosplayers there and the complexity of their costumes. Someone even cosplayed Japan from Hetalia; a character (and fandom) I didn’t expect to be present since it’s so...old. I was too shy to ask for pictures though, so I simply admired them from afar.
I had a lot of fun browsing through the stalls, even though sometimes I felt pressured to buy stuff. I think I’m just not very good with the friendliness of the artists haha. They tried to ask me which fandoms I was interested in/looking for, but I kind of nodded and smiled most of the time... I’m so sorry for my lack of conversational skills...
Most of the merch on sale were things like keychains/phone charms, and even though many of them were super cute I had to resist myself from splurging on them since I’d hardly put them to good use anyway. But I still spent a lot... of money... mostly on stickers and prints. Some prints are omitted from this picture since they’re for friends, but my favourite has to be the military!Haikyuu one. I also wanted to buy this MikaYuu print, but I decided against it since the art didn’t really fit my taste.
That’s another problem (with myself) that I came across during this con. Turns out I’m extremely, almost annoyingly picky with artwork. Like, they have to truly reflect the character’s personalities for me? For example, I saw a MakoHaru badge with good quality printing and pretty cute artwork (that’s two requirements checked off). But Makoto was sort of frowning there, and Haru was grinning very happily... very Makoto-like. And that!! Doesn’t fit!! With the characterisation!!! So I ended up giving it a miss. Yeah. I know right.
I didn’t have as much money in my wallet as I wanted because... I forgot to top up... And I don’t have an ATM card yet... so I honestly wish I got more prints and phone charms/badges. Or just prints, really; but now that I think about it I’ve bought quite a lot anyway and I shouldn’t buy prints I’m not entirely in love with. OH but I found this HunterxHunter artbook... which is really beautiful... But I thought it was a CD so I didn’t even look at it closely. Sighs. Maybe I’ll just order it online or something.
