I quit being an RA
I honestly feel awful about stepping down but my courseload this semester is ridiculous and I can't handle RA responsibilites while juggling 6 classes, 3 of which are online and 4 credits, of the three, one is accelerated.
I feel bad because I truly enjoyed the job and I know I made a difference in a lot of peoples lives. I will really miss my staff too, I was close with a lot of people on there.
It hit me hard that I really quit when I moved into my resident room, I have a roommate now and that is something I'm going to have to get adjusted to again. Another thing that will be different is not being an RA, sometimes I just snap into RA mode and talk a situation down. Sometimes I still knock on doors forcefully.
I learned a lot from my semester, I learned command presence, social skills, resolution skills, every single fucking rule in the book. I am not the same person I was going into this and it has helped me a lot.
I'm gonna miss it, but now I have to focus on school work. Which is proving to be difficult because now everyone on campus knows who I am and wants to hang out with me.
Whatever happens next is gonna be interesting.
The strongest friendship can be spoiled by a word, a tone, even an imagined tone.
