(Dana) “ you don’t know how they work?”
”I assume wires are involved,” Grant shrugged, frowning at the Port-a-Diner. He gestured vaguely at the base, “Down in there prob’ly. But no, I do not know how they work.”
(Ben) “You know what the hell he’s talkin’ about?”
”Not really,” Holly admitted quietly, still looking at Jake and nodding as he explained his latest project: an eyebot. Somehow, he’d managed to trade with some drifter for the old beat up thing. It was in sorry shape — most of it was charred black, as if it had been set on fire, and a lot of the guts looked rusted to hell and back — but he seemed convinced that he could do something with it.
“It don’t much matter though. He’s just thinkin’ out loud, long as we stand here and listen to him he’s happy.”
“You’re going down. Grrr. That’s menacing, right?”
"About as menacing as my mom's bunny slippers, but hey, you do you," Hana murmured in response, not even looking up from her notepad as she continued to doodle, sitting cross-legged on the kitchen counter.
