alright. what's the deal with coyfog
Coyfog is the evil QPR between my TMA OCs, Ziggy Lovett (Flesh) and Merel Ivanov (Vast).
Ziggy Lovett (he/they + sin/sins) is a Flesh avatar. They’re a transmasc nonbinary coydog with schizophrenia and went to a woman’s prison for 6 years after killing two cops in self-defense.
They have been best friends-lovers-roommates-partners with Merel Ivanov from a very young age. Ziggy did not go to college. He has not medically transitioned either. Sin grew up in a household of five (two siblings) and while everyone did their best, it was stressful. They were kicked out when they came out as a lesbian.
He had a brief fling in jail. When sin returned, sin was far more unsocialized and clingy, and with being an ascended human who needs to feed on fear, has been accidentally pushing Merel into the Vast.
As a Flesh avatar, they have control over meat (I have a thing on AO3 about this) but not their own flesh. They can currently control the movement of others, and will be able to make teratoma grow later on. The Flesh, however, feasts on him as well. Sin has a ridiculous healing factor which means medical transition is out of the question— any attempt to assert control over their body, really. See that dog who dwells inside his body like an uninvited guest.
Fun facts: They’re 5’6” and were born on 9/15. Sin is unsurprisingly a therian. He’s also one of those cannibalism-as-love bloggers but sin’s a total poser and despite being an avatar of the Flesh, has not eaten anyone.
Merel Smith (she/her) currently works as a physics programmer for Kinetos Studios, an up-and-coming VR company dedicated to making their products completely recreate or outright replace reality. They’re teamed with a mapping company, but often use games for their tech demos. The building goes on forever, you can feel it leaning with the wind. Sometimes the windows aren’t there.
Her apartment isn’t much better. The space would be claustrophobic if not for the way doorways will sometimes lead to hallways which should have never been there. It’s like stepping into a lion’s maw.
Merel is autistic. As a child she was treated as heartless and she’s internalized that. As a result, the way she talks is very direct and thought through. She isn’t sure if she has feelings at all.
She’s in an evil QPR with Ziggy, as stated above. He doesn’t really have anywhere to go. Add that with the white dogboy bullshit and you have a recipe for Goot Lort.
Merel’s pet project is an infinite generative library one can wander around in the digital world. She accidentally overloaded the power grid while trying to force it into reality and got fired just before she took the leap to become an avatar of the Vast.
Her connection to the Vast was predicated by a lifetime hounding by the Lonely and Buried. I’d compare her to Atlas— holding up the weight of the sky. For her, the Vast’s themes of cosmic horror and insignificance are harmful systems too large for one person to do anything about, with a secondary theme in infinite random generation.
Fun facts: She’s 5’3” and born on 2/2, the same year as Ziggy. She makes those 1x1 wood+torch cities in Minecraft and numberless connect-the-dots sheets.
