At long last I finally earned my blue belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Much love for my buddy and long time training partner Tom for being my last roll before getting belted. Without folks like him I'd never have made it to where I am.

Was able to attend service this morning starting my day right with praises to the Lord and finishing this evening giving more thanks to Him for this victory 🙏 Today was a really great day winning Masters 2 Black Medium Heavy at the IBJJF Long Beach Open. What made it extra special is the idea I want to always lead by example on the mats and with my own children. I improved on my mistakes from last tournament in training, diet, and mental conditioning. I was able to hit the takedown I taught in class last week, used good tactics, and I came in 3lbs under weight thanks to nutrition advice from @trentmeauxmma @tonyapaulson and hard training with @chacharo19 and everyone at @erikpaulsoncsw and @breajiujitsuofficial. Thank you to my coaches Erik Paulson, Danny Suarez, and Dan Lukehart for believing in me. It was also great to see my college wrestling teammate @abdelhamedsadik and my work twin and Jiu Jitsu brother @educkwox. Life is busy, I know.
