Cuppow - "What can one product do for our economy?" Infographic

Ten months prior to the start of work on this infographic, we released Cuppow. Cuppow is a very simple product that turns a canning jar into a travel mug, and people like it. But, behind the utility of our product, our commitment to developing and maintaining the best localized supply chain possible has proven to be incredibly rewarding. We didn’t anticipate that one product, made through utilizing domestic resources that we are happy to support could have such an impact.

In those first ten months, we realized that we were making an impact on domestic industry when part-time workers at our fulfillment center were suddenly full-time, and owners of businesses in our supply chain were suddenly very happy to speak to us on the phone when we called. We decided to go through our books and evaluate the impact that our product has had on the domestic industries that serve us, and once we crunched some numbers, we were very proud. We teamed up with renowned illustrator and designer, Natalya Zahn, to help interpret our data into an easily digestible infographic. The product of our efforts is a compelling argument for the maintenance and reintroduction of domestic supply chains in the production of consumer products.

For Immediate Release: Available Now: Cuppow In Color!

Today we are proud to announce the release of a project that we have been working on since the beginning of Cuppow. Colors! Not only colors, but each color is associated with a specific charity or cause that we have partnered with for the release. Five percent of the profit from the sale of these products through our online store at Cuppow.com will be donated to these organizations. This is part of an effort on our part to set a precedence for charitable giving as a major interest of the Cuppow brand starting in our first year of business. We hope to continue this trend as we release new limited edition color/product combinations associating each color with a charity.

In our first release of colors, we have selected The Alliance for the Great Lakes to be paired with a translucent shade of Pantone color 299U (Blue). Our first offering in this color is our Regular Mouth Cuppow with Straw-Tek product, however, we hope that if this goes well and we are able to generate a generous donation, any future products that we release in this color will be paired with this organization as well.

Why we chose to partner with The Alliance for the Great Lakes:

Alliance for the Great Lakes serves as the voice of the 40 million people who rely on Great Lakes water for drinking, recreation and commerce. Formed in 1970, it is the oldest independent Great Lakes protection organization in North America. Its mission is to conserve and restore the world’s largest freshwater resource using policy, education and local efforts, ensuring a healthy Great Lakes and clean water for generations of people and wildlife. Its headquarters are in Chicago, with offices in Buffalo, Cleveland, Detroit, Grand Haven and Milwaukee.

Given the terrible wake of destruction that Hurricane Sandy left in her path through the Northeastern United States a few weeks ago, we have decided to postpone our second charity partnership in favor of a direct donation to this worthy cause. That being said, our translucent Pantone color 021U (Orange) Wide Mouth Cuppow product, will be linked with this cause for the foreseeable future.

I directed, shot, and edited these three spreads as a part of the online ad campaign for the new Cuppow Regular with Straw-Tek product release. Illustrator Natalya Zahn did some additional edits and sketched some of the graphic elements of the product packaging over the photos.
