Some Six useful apps.

Writing this blog here because someone ruined the freakin printers!

I will explore Six useful apps for social media use with a mobile device.

1. Wordpress.

Can’t really have a social media list without wordpress. I was originally looking for a Blogger/ Blogspot App on mobile devices but instead came across this which is a much more impressive alternative, in my opinion.

From any mobile device you can publish, edit, and upload media while you’re on the go. You can open pages, create new pages, and new blogs on this app, in which you can freely add video or images to these pages with very little hassle.

It is a simple and very functional application and should be recommended to anyone who hosts a blog or even just for studies.

2. DeviantArt

DeviantArt is a massive social community online for artist and art lovers. With the release of their mobile app, they have expanded the experience of their brand and website to a larger world for artist and potential new fans on both iOS and Android devices.

The App demonstrates multiple sections dedicated to news, new images, social communications, a personalized watch list and an art submission platform.

Members can make use of status updates and the message center with fair ease where uses can manage mentions, replies and messages.

While on the go, you can still submit art through your mobile device, taking away the hassle of always needing a Desktop or Mac computer to upload your latest work of art or discovery.

 For any artist, I would recommend this App if you are looking for more social exposure with the online community. I found the app very user friendly and simple to use.

3. Tumblr

Tumblr allows users to share photos, videos, links and various other media to the social network. The interface is vibrant in colours and simple in design.

Logging in is a piece of cake, and if you have forgotten your password, the ease of retrieving your account again literally takes a few seconds, assuming you remember your email. (Unlike me who had forgotten both J)

In the Dashboard you can post and browse the Tumblr world in a fast and more responsive interface. From reading past reviews, it seemed that the app was quite slow. So seeing that, the developers of the app seem to keep up to date on their application.

4. Snapchat

While using snapchat, a person can take a picture, put a timer on it, from 1 to 10 seconds, and then you can add a note if you want and send it to anyone if you have their username.

The design is very simplistic and easy to navigate the menus. So far the only hassle I’ve experienced is that it was difficult for me to create an account through my mobile device only.

This is a good app to share current events with friends have have the images and videos deleted. Unfortunately this has put the developers under fire, as many users have come to creating Not-Safe-For-Work content that isn’t deleted after the timer runs out.

5. Instagram

I think Instagram has become my favorite App so far, and even though it is advertised for young adults and older, there is still risk of younger children at risk of viewing things they shouldn’t and connecting with total strangers.

Anyone can view your profile if they see something they like, and as an obvious warning, there are a lot of sickos on the net and quite a lot of them use Instagram. No that is not the reason why I like it.

What I like is the basic design layout and ease of use. Even more so is what you can do on Instagram. You can take a picture or video from your mobile device, upload it, and then have access to a plethora/ multiple options to edit and filter your media with absolute ease.

As I mentioned before, there are weirdos. Sometimes Instagram content will display disturbing images, sex acts, and violence that can be seen by anyone who uses the social network application. Really though, you can’t blame the app for that.

6. Steam

The Steam App on Mobile devices is used as a ‘away from desktop‘ means to keep up to date with the latest Steam news, chat with friends, watch broadcasts of gamers and popular gaming celebrities, and purchase games via the Steam Store.

Steam is a program on the Desktop that allows users to purchase and play PC games, but many users do have work and studies and will be away from their gaming “duties“ for most of their time. This mobile App was made to make it easier to monitor their profiles, and most importantly, make friends, and enemies.

The layout is not very pretty, with the navigation being compressed into a single button, and once expanded, you have to scroll down to see the many nav buttons. Load time has also been a bit of a problem, even on Wi-Fi, loading a page can take up to 6 to 10 seconds at the least.

I do recommend it for Steam users, particularly if you are a Steam Partner and are trying to or are selling games through their store and you just want to keep up to date with the latest reviews.
