Found this little f.awn today, everything above the ears and below the belly was really mushy so I only took the spotted spine. I’ve never worked on any deer before, and that’s an intentional choice, but I couldn’t pass up this little one.

Vintage Osteology/Taxidermy Deer

Look who just came in the mail today! The seller said he got it from an antique shop in France, so I have no clue on how old it is. I think it is a Roe d.eer, though I don’t know enough about identifying animals to confirm that.

beautiful young roebuck I got from a gamekeeper today!

working on him will be exiting; if the guy I got him from likes the outcome, he’ll keep me as his primary contact for deads he finds / shoots and doesn’t want. getting this opportunity would be awesome, especially since he gets foxes and badgers, even raccoons at times!

My first ever skull!! My dad found this guy at a flea market for 20 dollars! I've named him Winston and he is a very good boy.

I'm so happy, I've wanted a d.eer skull ever since I found out that Vulture Culture was a thing. But every skull I've found has been too expensive.

Today’s haul from a mostly skeletonized w.hitetail d.eer carcass found several days ago in a ditch! The top part of the skull is also there, but I want to get it at another time, after I’ve done more research on how to properly clean one. All in all, I got:

11 ribs

9 toe bones

1 bone from the foot

both halves of the pelvis

3 lumbar vertebrae

2 thoraic vertebrae

1 3rd cervical vertebra 

1 hoof

1 jaw with all the teeth

1 leg (?) bone
