I’m a bit late (it took me forever) but I wanted to make a gay themed fanart in honour of Dan Gay and Phil Gay and as I am a slut for 80s england aesthetic I drew dan and phil wearing 80s inspired outfits in front of the famous london Gay’s The Word bookshop (and they’re wearing loads of cute 80s gay badges).

B.I.G Feelings

Today is a year after BIG came out and I have a lot of feelings over Dan’s coming out. When I started watching Dan (and Phil) I was 13 and I had just begun to figure out my own sexuality. I hated myself at the time more than anything at the time for the whole liking girls thing. And when I started watching Dan and Phil and I honestly thought that they were a couple and that gave me hope for myself. Hope that I could grow up to fall in love with whoever I wanted and be happy like Dan did. I was nearly 17 when I witnessed Dan utter the phrase “I’m gay” and it made me happy to hear Dan finally come to terms with his sexuality. Dan’s story is hard to hear and as someone who has felt the same way Dan has in the past and even now I struggle with my sexuality. Dan’s video talks about the struggle of growing up without being respected or even knowing how much your words will hurt others. Dan’s video is so important to me and to so many others because we went through struggles with our sexuality like he did. I can never explain how important this video is to me without becoming a mess. But I want to thank Dan for what he has done for me and so many others, for helping us. Thank you, you can now exhale.
