this is so funny because when you first sent me this ask I'd actually already seen this post on the subreddit because I'm on r/lawschool all the time. ironically I would say being a writer (not just for fanfic but a creative writer in general) actually made my legal writing worse. I thought I'd do great at legal writing because I love writing so much, but legal writing is so incredibly different that I was at a disadvantage by already being inclined to write in such a specific way. I hate legal writing so much man I'm so scared to get my appellate brief grade back LOL
