Nature documented on a Moleskine Journal.
My interest in blooms and leaves comes from my dad who pushed me to explore nature in every possible way... right from when I was a kid. A lifelong gardener himself, his passion extended much beyond just rooftop gardening. He expanded his hobby, whenever he got a chance to do so. From organic farming to keeping cattle, from pisciculture to raising birds, from planting trees to studying rare orchids. He did it all. At one point we had a farm house in Rasapunjee, (Kachari Danga) that soon became a favourite picnic spot for all his friends and our extended family.
Dad had an immense knowledge of blooms and could identify leaves and flowers with great ease and thus whenever I would see a flower I didn’t know the name of, I would take a picture of it to show it to him and to find out more about it. He always cherished looking at them and sharing his knowledge with me. What started as a mere documentation soon became a beautiful series on Instagram that I call #dolinmanjournal @dolinman being my Instagram name. Now that he is not there with us anymore, the series reminds me of him and all the beautiful conversations we had not so long ago. I keep shooting these now as a dedication for him... I do miss him like crazy. In memory of Partha Roy.
