How can you decide between who you want to be and who you want to have?

What levels of actually being or having can you settle for? Is it even possible to fully have one or the other?

At what point do the two become incompatible? Or were they always?

When you don't truly have anyone else, does it make that person more or less valuable?

When you have never let yourself truly want anything, does that make who you want to be more or less important?

Do you only want something because you think you can't have it? What if you want it less as you get closer? What if it's too late?
