What's your favorite kpop group? What about your favorite song?
Uh oh...admission time: I'm not actually that into girl group Kpop music. I like a couple of older RV songs, but other than that I've never had anything catch my interest. I'll be the first to admit I haven't tried too hard to seek out groups I enjoyed musically.
That's not to say I don't like Kpop as a genre--I legitimately love almost everything IU has put out since 꽃갈피/Flower Bookmark. I also like Akdong Musician and Lee Hi. This channel (possibly defunct now?) is also full of insanely talented Korean musicians. I think I trend towards the indie-ish stuff because that's what street musicians played when I lived in Seoul and spent my weekends in Daehakno (trendy/artsy university district, highly recommend to anyone living/visiting Seoul who wants a good place to take a date btw).
I guess that's all to say that my interest in Kpop comes a lot from the visuals (and by god they're amazing!), but also what I learn about the girls when they act in dramas or appear in variety/interview shows.
Outside of Kpop I love The Beatles first and foremost (so unique, I know). Otherwise it's a weird mishmash--I love old blues from the 30s and 40s, and I've been on huge Wilco and The Shins kicks recently. Also Streetlight Manifesto is the greatest ska punk band ever.
