She couldn’t help the fact it felt more like a blatant accusation than more of a question. Then again, she was always used to everyone pointing fingers at her and blaming her first without getting evidence. It was just her curse. Syanna’s blue eyes hardened. “I didn’t do anything ‘evil’ if that’s what you’re implying.” 

She sighed, letting out the frustrated breath she had been holding. “I just asked for directions...and maybe this apple.” Glancing at the red juicy fruit, she decided it was probably best to not eat it. After all, wasn’t there a fairytale about poisonous apples?

SHE DOESN’T STIFFEN AT THE SOUND OF HIS VOICE ANYMORE. When she had first arrived in Haven , she didn’t expect to see him , let alone expect he would be Commander of the Inquisition. It startled her , put her right back in Kinloch Hold anytime she heard him speak. Not now. Not when they’re on equal footing.

Skyhold is new for all of them. Repairs are still underway , forcing interesting paths to get where one needs to go until the debris is cleared. It also forces unexpected encounters like this. Cullen speaks and she frowns , hand tightening on her staff a little more.

IT’S BEEN SOME TIME SINCE SHE’S FELT SHE CAN BE A SHOW OFF. It’s certainly not for lack of pride ; her intelligence is absolutely a point of it. ❝ I have a good memory and a mind for patterns. ❞ She lays out the books she referenced on top of the map she has marked with that information. ❝ Besides , trying to find the temple referenced in the scroll Enchanter Renaud is interesting to me. It’s easier to memorize the things I’m fascinated with. ❞

Rowena reflexively hands Sera one of the books so she can pick up the sextant and more closely inspect the map. She laughs , just a little. ❝ You should have met me when I was eleven. I had a phase where the only thing I wanted to read about was this very niche theory about mages and animal companions as a sort of magic conduit bond. It didn’t go anywhere , but I can still tell you just about everything I’d learned. ❞ She pauses then adds with surprising lightness. ❝ Of course , I was in the Circle at the time and visitors weren’t exactly encouraged. ❞

The ground beneath her suddenly disappears, as in one swoop the student's leg is ensnared by Aizawa's binding scarf and she's dangling upside down.

The teacher remains in his crouched position, air nonchalant and lax.

"You ran right into a trap. And an obvious one at that. If you truly paid attention in class you would know better."

“You should be less worried about offending me and more worried about defending yourself,” he scolds. But, he does as he’s told -- he’s going to trust in her plan and her strength. He wants to hesitate, to stand in front to protect her, but knows that there is never time for hesitation on the battle field. So he steps back, capture scarf raised and billowing around him. Without warning -- no, without hesitating: 

“Now.”

Aizawa’s hair stands on end and his eyes glow red. He’s doing his part; it’s time to see what his student has planned.
