Hey Kay, hope you're well! This is for the ask post you reblogged. My question for you is...

Have you read any good fics lately and are there any you recommend?

I have read some of the most beautiful, lovely, hot, heart-shattering, heart-mending, hopeful, incredible fics lately. It's so hard to pic the BEST ones, so I wont. Instead I'm going with the last few in my read history that I loved. All of these are Drarry, so might not be your thing, Sar, but it's what I've been reading as of late, so here we go!

I am currently re-reading The Four Doors by @fluxweeed for probably the 5th time? Maybe 6th? Idk. It's a really good memory loss/recovery and healer (cough cough mind magic specialist) Draco fic, which are two of my fav categories.

Recently I read Solder by Oakstone730 and was blown away by the addiction recovery elements. It was lovely.

Contretemps by @moonflower-rose was a really fun one. The level of self denial Draco has in this one is comical. Its the only Teen rated one Ive read recently that I enjoyed enough to bookmark.

Re-read I Do Not Love You by @writandromance recently as well and love this one with my entire heart. It hurts a little from start to finish and the pacing is slow in that way that it feels almost nice to sit with what you read for a little bit and then move on to the next chapter. It's another memory modification fic and tells a love story in the present (with the memory charm thing) and the past (where draco and harry fell in love, before the memory charm thing). I feel strongly that this is in my top 5 drarry fics, though it's definitely worth reading To Be Like Geese and Hollow also by this fic writer because they are truly lovely as well. Hollow especially has my heart currently as I'm dealing with rituals around loss in my family and inner-faith family.

Then there is Who We Are In The Shadows by Quicksilvermaid. This fic is so incredibly thought out. The characterizations here are absolutely wonderful. I fucking love it. 10/10 recommend.

I also recently re-read Making It Up As We Go by @jtimu which might be my fav shorter one shot type fic for Drarry. If there is ever a Harry POV made for this I will likely sob into my hands with joy. It's lovely. (But so are alot of J's fics, so.)

And a muggle AU Drarry I love and is also in my recent list is Synthetic Bonds by Mypetelephant. It's such an interesting plot and also I just LOVE snarky, incredibly intelligent, slightly conniving Draco. This is an arranged marriage (of sorts) fic, and I LOVE it.

Idk if you'll ever read any of these, Sar, but maybe someone will and they'll enjoy them. Shout out to @sitp-recs & @lostdrarryfics because there is like a 99% chance all of these fics came from recs on one of these accounts.

7 Stages of falling in love with Draco malfoy

1. Its in the ways he walks past you with his white shirt neatly tucked in with a soft blue half sweater, his collars out with a soft pearl necklace giving him a soft touch of summer and winter and autumn all at the same time, like he’s a walking season only you don’t know which. The way his face shines softly in the basking sun but the power he hold as he walk past with his shoes clinking against the ground that everyone would themselves make a room for him to walk past. How can someone so beautiful like a flower hold so much power, but then again he’s not just anybody, he’s “ The Draco Lucius Malfoy “ 

2. Its in the ways that he sneaked glances at Harry between classes that would make him lose his balance and almost fall off the chair. And it was in the ways that he’d meet Harry outside classroom in a secret hallway where no one passed by and softly kiss behind Harry’s ear muttering a have a nice day before they’d walk away again as if nothing ever happened. 

3. The look on his face that harry wishes he could live forever with when they’d sit for the bonfire night in the outside garden with someone playing a soft instrumental and Draco would allow himself to flow in the tune and hum along the song if he knew it. It was then when he wasn’t as powerful as he was in the day, he was soft, he was beautiful, he was gorgeous, he was pretty, he was breathtaking, he was everything and it would make Harry wonder how did he get this lucky to kiss that smile in the night before they walked to separate room or when they’d sneak in the morning to meet before class and they would mutter sweet things and kiss so softly. 

4. It was pure wonder when someone as powerful like him would walk to Harry with slumped shoulders and a fake smile plastered as he’d walk by people but would immediately vanish when Harry would open his arms and he’d just crumble in his touch, like he melted right there and then like, ice on heat, all his coldness, his power, his stealth lost in a soft whimpers wishing he had a better day or wishing that it was all just a little bit easier. It was then when Harry would love him the dearest because there was no one who could be him, so strong yet so fragile. 

5. When Draco would fall asleep in Harry’s arm while creating their own constellations in the coldness of the night, snuggled deeply into Harry’s sweater he was wearing, it was then when Harry would hold onto him tightly, kiss his forehead, play with his hair for a while and wonder so many things about Draco and nothing at all at the same time and just admire him in his sleep and when Harry too would sleep in his arm, he would dream of a time when he would live in the same apartment making dishes together and wondering which frame looks better on which wall. It was the stage where he knew he loved Draco more than anyone else. 

6. The love that resonated in the abandoned hallways, forbidden forest, secret hallways, room of requirement when Draco would kiss Harry after having saving it up for the entire day, like when the heaven meets the sky or the sea meets the shore. The kiss would be seen by the walls and moans would be heard by them too but maybe one day there would live a tale where they’d say “ two boys kissed here and promised a forever “. It was Draco who would cardinally push Harry against the wall sharply because that was their paradise and if heaven didn’t accept them, hell probably will. 

7. The last stage of falling for Draco Malfoy was loving him more than breathing. Loving him till they made it to the vows and a small treehouse in the house they bought with a mailbox with their hand prints that said ‘Potter and Malfoys’, loving him till all the flour was used up in crazy food fight instead of making pancakes together, loving him till his breath gave out, loving him unconditionally. Loving Draco more than air itself.

hey.. imagine draco receiving a christmas jumper from molly, (ebony black with green embroidery) welcoming him into the family officially because all the weasleys know that harry loves him so much and that’s he’s now changed and grown for the better.

...and Draco excuses himself after opening up the present, and goes outside, and everyone wonders what’s wrong - Molly and Arthur even worry that they may have gone too far,

but Harry follows him outside in the snow, wondering why he didn’t even grab his coat and why he’s standing in the middle of the garden, freezing out there. He wants to scold him and tell him that was very rude of him, until he realises Draco is crying. When he asks him what’s wrong, Draco looks at him... teary eyed and vulnerable. And then hugs him - like he never hugged anyone before - and he just says ‘thank you’. And Harry gets it.

What do you love about Drarry?

Oh my! That's a question! So many things! They're so changeable with every story you get! But yet they're they still the same. I can see them in so many different ways. I never get tired of reading them. Each writer has their own unique style. And the same with the art! I just find them beautiful. I love all the different styles of art.

12. What first changes when it starts getting serious?

It’s about the little things. One morning Draco wakes up, pads into the bathroom, notices two toothbrushes on the sink; Lately, he runs out of shampoo in less than two weeks; The kitchen cupboard's always stuffed with a muggle product called Nutella that he absolutely doesn’t eat at two am while watching television with Harry sprawled on his chest, snoring and drooling on his t-shirt; His sentences shift from “I did..” to “We did..”; His Christmases include a small blue-haired kid on top of his shoulders, Molly Weasley gifting him the umpteenth woollen jumper (he loves his collection, thank you very much, and wears it from day 1 of winter until day 1 of spring)... 

Until one day they are at a Charity Ball, and a journalist asks them when they are getting married, and Harry simply turns his head to Draco, a crooked smile on his face, “I think one year from now?” And Draco blinks hard, what the fuck? “Is this a proposal, you moron?” and that’s how they find themselves engaged. 

18. When they fight, how do they make up?

I mean, there’s sex. A lot of it. Rough sex, tender sex, agonisingly slow sex, sex in a bed, on a desk, in the brooms cupboard, in the shower, shoved against a wall, on the sofa...

But what Harry really loves is when Draco storms out of the house to come back a couple of hours later, a box of Harry’s favourites cookies in one hand and teary eyes -- they spend the rest of the night crying, listing what they love about the other, cuddling and remembering a time when their worst fight ended up in blood on cold wet tiles of a certain bathroom... it can’t get worse than that.

Of your 3 major ships, who knows the other the best? Like, which couple would win if they all played 'The Newlywed Game'.

My 3 major ships are Wolfstar and Drarry from the Harry Potter fandom, and Chadam from the Mighty Ducks fandom.

Ok so I actually went and looked up sample questions for the Newlywed Game (and ended up having such a fun time going through like 30 of them with my partner) so I feel like I can be pretty confident in my answer when I say: Drarry.

Both the Wolfstar and Banksway ships were roommates, and while it would seem to make sense that they would easily know everything about their partner from growing up in close proximity, it's actually really easy to not notice things because you don't have to be intentional. You assume you already know everything about them. I can also see Remus being quite avoidant with Sirius about deeper things, and the same with Adam when it comes to Charlie. Not even because they want to, but it's just in their nature to sort of withhold to an extent.

But Draco and Harry?! Bestie. They have been hyper aware of each other from day one. They were intentional as fuck about knowing whatever they could about the other person, and I fully believe this behavior would only increase in their relationship. They are each hardwired to be tuned into what the other is doing. The desire they have when they get together is just a new and more potent fuel for their very obvious preexisting obsession with each other.

I have fairytales on my mind so what fairytales would your ships be in?

Alright so the only thing I could immediately settle on was Drarry and Tangled (the Disney version of Repunzel) Harry as Repunzel trapt in the castle. Draco as Flynn Rider just trying to commit crimes and get away with it. Harry with magically wild hair (this is canon Harry anyway so *shrugs*) and coming back to a world he didn't realize was actually his from birth. Draco falling in love in the most reluctant of ways while being cassually bullied in turn by a horse and pet chameleon. I want this fic so badly.

I am actually pretty stumped on Banksway and Wolfstar and would love suggestions!
