Hailey Burns is a 16 year old girl who vanished after walking out of her home in Charlotte, North Carolina  on May 23 2016. Her mother checked all the doors the night before and they  were all locked, but when her family tried to wake Hailey up for school the next morning, she was gone and the front door was wide open.  Her father says she left a diary behind that had a detailed plan to run away with a 32-year-old man she met online. Hailey has Asperger Syndrome and has had behavioral issues in the past. Her family did everything they could to stop this from happening, but it still did.

There is very little media coverage about this, but what we do know is Hailey’s parents tried to eliminate all social media from their home.They were very strict with phone and computers usage but it is thought that Hailey used her friends phone or the school’s computer. Hailey also had several  severe medical conditions that require medication, but she didn’t take any of them with her.

Hailey is 5’4” (1.63m), 130lbs (59kg) and has curly, brown hair and hazel eyes. She was last seen wearing blue jeans, a black long sleeved shirt with Marilyn Monroe on it, and Converse tennis shoes. She may be wearing a blue book bag with flowers on it.

Shanna Peoples (born November 22, 1991) was last seen walking near her home on North Morris Drive in Geneva, Alabama on September 8, 2011, when she was 19 years old. She left her front door wide open and has never been heard from again. She left her bike, her only transportation, at home. She has sandy blonde hair, brown eyes, a dime sized birthmark above her knee. She may use the last names McKee and/or Peoples-McKee. She has a slight speech impediment and rarely talks. She had long hair at the time she disappeared but since them may have cut it short.  Her family states she has a shy nature and is afraid of the dark and thunderstorms. Her favorite foods are raw carrots and onions, pizza, macaroni and cheese, and hamburgers. She is mildly mentally disabled and functions at a level of a 12 to 14 year old. She needs daily medication which she didn’t have with her. She can’t read or write very well and can’t remember her phone number or address, and she never learned how to drive. She may still be in Alabama, or in Florida, Tennessee, or some other southern U.S. states. Her family believes someone she knew took advantage of her. Foul play is possible and Shanna has yet to be found.

Dobbins was last seen in Decatur, Alabama sometime in December 2006. She has never been heard from again. She frequently traveled to various states throughout the southeastern United States.

Dobbins wasn't reported missing until November 2008, nearly two years after she was last seen. Few details are available in her case.

Brittany was last seen when her aunt dropped her off at her father's home on McCovery Road in Mobile, Alabama at 9:00 a.m. on June 14, 2012, for what was supposed to be a two-day visit. She has never been heard from again. Her father, Demetric L. Hooper, left Mobile immediately after her disappearance, and six weeks later a warrant was issued for his arrest. A photo of Hooper is posted with this case summary.

In September, he was located at a mental health facility in Arkansas. Hooper suffers from schizophrenia and had sought treatment there. In the years prior to Brittany's disappearance, he had been hospitalized in Alabama several times for his mental illness and for drug problems. Brittany wasn't with her father when the police found him in Arkansas, and he was charged with felony custodial interference.

Authorities determined he traveled extensively throughout the southeastern United States after Brittany vanished. He took a bus from Memphis, Tennessee to Arkansas on July 7, three weeks after Brittany was last seen, and she wasn't with him then. Hooper was carrying Brittany's pink iPod, as well as knives and a rope, at the time of his arrest. He denied any involvement in his daughter's disappearance.

Hooper has prior arrests for domestic violence and assaulting a police officer, and violently resisted police when they arrested him in Arkansas, but his relatives stated they didn't believe he would have harmed Brittany. In August 2014, he pleaded guilty to custodial interference and was sentenced to ten years in prison. He was released in December 2016, after serving only four years.

In December 2023, Hooper was arrested in Oklahoma on charges of burglary and assault with a dangerous weapon. In February 2024, still in custody in Oklahoma, Hooper was indicted for his daughter's murder. Authorities haven't said anything about what evidence they have against him, but stated the passage of time indicated Brittany was no longer alive.

Searches of Hooper's home turned up no evidence of Brittany's whereabouts, and she hasn't had any contact with friends or relatives since she was last seen. She was supposed to begin her freshman year at Murphy High School in the fall of 2012, and had signed up for advanced placement courses.

Foul play is suspected in her case due to the circumstances involved.

Stubbs was last seen on April 24, 2014, when her brother dropped her off at 3rd Avenue west in Birmingham, Alabama at 9:00 a.m. She was meeting a man at Boost Mobile so he could help fix her car's brakes. Surveillance video showed Stubbs getting into the man's burgundy 2012 Chrysler 200. She has never been heard from again.

The man Stubbs met on the day of her disappearance was an African-American man in his fifties, someone she knew only by sight. He had met her at her job, and she offered to help him braid his children's hair in exchange for help with her brakes. He is a person of interest in Stubbs's disappearance, but his identity has not been publicly released.

Stubbs left behind two young children. Foul play is suspected in her case, which remains unsolved.
