Song Lyrics Series - 006 Sleeping At Last - Eight
And I apologize for repeating that betrayal over and over by allowing other's words and deeds to tear down the vision you had of who God created you to be. YOU'RE BREAKING FREE NOW, it'll be okay. I'll protect you now. Reposted from @enneagrampaths One part of reparenting is apologizing to the little versions of you. He/she/they need to hear an adult validate their pain and legitimize their childhood wounds. Treating younger you with tenderness and respect will open up your heart to all the important information, feelings, and sensations your inner child holds so tightly. . Often, younger parts of yourself took on roles to protect you, roles that might have been too “grown up” for them at the time. Now there is distress and pain. Meeting these parts of you with love is key in healing. You want to be loved and so do your younger selves. . Reparenting isn’t about blaming our parents for our childhoods. It’s about seeing and acknowledging pain that occurred during our formative years and beyond. It’s about the us of right now (our adult selves) offering love and healing to any younger part of ourselves. Pain can come from parents, it can also come from school, camp, peers, teachers, siblings, other family members, dating relationships into teenage years, or life experiences. . 👉Follow @enneagrampaths for more Enneagram insights! . . . #enneagram #enneagram8 #enneagram8w9 #enneagram8w7 #enneagrameight #enneagramjourney #enneagram8women #selfdiscoveryjourney #enneagramcoach #millenneagram #enneagramtypes #enneagramtype8 #enneagramtypeeight #enneagrampaths #bodytriad #enneagrams #enneagramseries #innerchild #innerchildhealing (at Warrendale, Detroit, Michigan) https://www.instagram.com/p/CoAJBl1OLXL/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
You have suffered in silence and I have allowed you to feel unprotected. You never received justice for the things you endured. But God covers you, and I love you. I will never allow you to be abused again. We are healed. We can be our authentic selves. Reposted from @enneagrampaths This time of year calls for extra awareness of our younger selves, taking into account all of our parts and how they work so hard to keep us safe. Breathe deep, my friend, feeling your ribs expand, allowing space into your hearts. Let your mind settle when it can. . If you find yourself triggered, frustrated, activated, or stuck in loops - try taking a moment alone to close your eyes and speak gentle words to the little one inside. Be curious about what gentleness might do. . Eights, we love your fire and your tender hearts! . Reposted from @gospelforenneagram 😉 WHAT IT'S LIKE SERIES: Want some help determining your Type? Are you curious about yourself or someone else? Follow us over the next few weeks to get an in-depth look at each type. 👉🏼 PLEASE SHARE: Which on the list do you resonate with the most❓ Important note: I've spent time compiling these lists (word for word) from the beginning of each chapter in THE ROAD BACK TO YOU. It’s not a comprehensive list with all of the positive characteristics. But it’s intended to help people to discover their type. That’s why many of them are behaviors in stress. #enneagram8 #enneagram8w7 #enneagram8w9 #enneagrameight #enneagrameights #enneagram8women . . . We are all each of these types in different degrees, yet we have preferences in psychological type, learning approach and response style. I’m a bit obsessed with personality tests. Whether it’s the 5 Love Languages, Strengths Finders, DISC, or Meyers Briggs (proud to be an ENTJ), I love gaining a deeper understanding of myself and of those around me.
While Michael and I were going through marriage counseling, we were introduced to the Enneagram. Aside from the Meyers Briggs, this has been my favorite because it not only identifies my personality, but explains why I am my personality. It reveals my hidden motivations; my greatest fears, and my deepest desires.
The Enneagram ranks you on a scale of 1-9 (you can take the test here http://bit.ly/1i8Y5BR), and I was lucky enough to be identified as an 8, which is the challenger. Here’s an idea of what drives an 8.
