“You ever wonder what’s in those evolutionary stones that makes them, you know, work? A friend in Kanto told me that it came from the energy of meteorites that crashed into our planet, while another friend in Sinnoh said that it’s a result of immense pressure from being underground for billions of years. But there isn’t really a consensus as to what makes them work—and, to add to that, what makes them work only on specific Pokémon. The most scientists agree on is that they possess some sort of energy that synchronizes with the Pokémon and triggers their evolution. What this energy is and where it came from still remains a mystery.

“That’s what I’m working on here in Devon. They have incredible research so far around the energy of Pokémon, from being able to revive fossils to actually harnessing that energy for artificial use. But if we fully understand how the energy within those stones work, we can use them to our advantage because they’re much easier to obtain and experiment with. It may be tough, and I’ve already faced a lot of dead-ends, but I know that I’ll figure out the mystery of how they’ll work. It may take me a week or a decade, but it’ll happen for sure!”
