#extrovert privilege

Every job I ever get, every class I ever took, and any other group I’ve been arbitrarily thrown into results the same. I’m quiet and reserved because I’m introverted and have social anxiety. The average person doesn’t like these traits, and judges those who don’t want to sit around and chit-chat all damn day while trying to do work.

Then, when it comes time for my evaluation, it’ll note that I’m “not a team player” or that I wasn’t “friendly enough.”

So, in other words, “You don’t deserve a job because you don’t know how to be casually trusting and open with people you barely know.”

“You don’t deserve a job because you didn’t feel like wasting a bunch of energy pretending to care about what people did over the weekend or discussing other vapid topics, like celebrities or gossip.”

Running

Social privilege is going for a run and knowing what to say to get another creepy runner to leave you alone that wont result in either him jumping you or brushing off the request. Running is one of the few times I get to be alone with myself. If you’re confident enough to be hitting on me then you should have the insight to see the im uninterested and uncomfortable near you.

Self Checkout

There needs to be more of these. Not just in grocery stores but in any stores. Just imagine not being judged for buying 2 cans of whipped cream, duct tape, and a birthday cake. Everytime im at checkout, they just glare at me and its incredibly horrible. You wouldnt be judged for the clothes you buy, the food you eat, or the DVDs you rent(lol do people still do that?) Not only that but youd save a whole generation of young introverts scared of working in retail. Remember, small steps.
