Summary: She didn’t ask to save the world. She didn’t ask for the glowy hand. And she definitely didn’t ask for Solas to look better in real life. But here they are: him smirking, her spiraling, and the end of the world politely knocking.
Chapter 4: A Chord Out of Place - Solas POV
And she closed the rift. When she turned to me, there was a challenge in her eyes. Not born of ignorance, but of will. She was afraid, yes. It trembled in her fingers, but beneath it blazed something brighter.
That defiance, that unyielding spirit, it stirred something long dormant within me. In my youth, I had relished challenges, the thrill of pursuit, the allure of the untamed. Her resilience, her refusal to be subdued, awakened that hunger anew.
I found myself captivated by her, drawn not just to her strength, but to the fire that fueled it. It was a dangerous allure, one that threatened to unravel the careful detachment I had maintained for centuries.
Shadow and Spite !Shadow Dragon Rook x Lucanis Dellamore
It's a bit AU, a bit OOC, and a mix of magical romance. mdni
🍴He’s cooking. In a man bun. In the Fade.
She’s watching him. Because she can’t help it.
But he’s not alone.
Not with the thing Zara Renata put inside him.
In Chapter One of Shadow and Spite, Rook wanders into the Lighthouse pantry expecting a snack—and finds Lucanis, his sleeves rolled, his pan sizzling, and Spite lingering just out of view.
⚔️ A spirit of Determination corrupted into Spite.
💜 A spellblade still recovering from Fade-ravaged wounds.
🍲 And a tension so thick you could cut it with one of Lucanis’ knives.
Varric grinned. “Got a last name to go with that, Stray?”
The nickname caught me off guard, an official Varric Tethras nickname. I was pretty sure I was grinning like an idiot—eyes sparkling, cheeks aching—because Varric’s mouth had that smug little curve.
“Stray?” I echoed, part incredulous, part greedy to hear it again.
He raised a brow. “Last name, kid?”
Right. That. Shit.
I froze. Nothing came to mind. I should’ve planned for this, should’ve picked something believable, solid, already rehearsed. But of course I hadn’t, because planning was a thing other people did. Somewhere behind me, I heard a certain someone stifle a laugh.
I blurted out the first thing that came to mind. “Wulfdale.” It came out too fast, too forceful. My voice carried that brittle edge, the kind that dared someone to call it fake.
I felt him then.
His gaze landed between my shoulder blades. Not just looking—studying. As if the word had sunk claws into something buried deep and old in him.
My pulse jumped.
Well. That got his attention.
Brilliant move, Ingryth. Go ahead, wave the red cape at the ancient Fade-walking bull. Tug the tail of a half-feral, magic-saturated, thousand-year-old elf like you’d got a death wish and something to prove.
Classification: Marked Individual – Unknown Origin
Status: Active
Few records exist on the apostate identifying herself as Ingryth Wulfdale. She appeared during the explosion at the Conclave bearing a Fade-mark not seen before or since—an active rift scar, tethered to the Veil itself.
Wulfdale claims no allegiance to any known Circle or Chantry faction. Her speech and mannerisms suggest foreign origin—possibly Ander or even something more distant, though no accent matches precisely. Her behavior fluctuates between erratic insight and barely-contained panic, yet she demonstrates a working knowledge of both magic theory and battlefield survival.
Her name, while unrecorded in any known census, carries a curious weight: Ingryth echoes ancient names from the Anderfels, while Wulfdale evokes old tales of wild northern vales—places whispered to be touched by spirits, wolves, and worse. Whether coincidence or omen, none can say.
Excerpt from Commander Cullen’s field notes:
She is not trained. She is not disciplined. But the mark listens to her—and the mages listen to that.
Renna usually has to stuff food down his throat because he is absolutely not a morning person. So he mostly eats fruit because he likes fruit. Also have I mentioned that his hair is fabulous? It’s such a shame that he cuts it.
Modern AU Anvindr drinks coffee and that’s pretty much it. (Is there coffee in Thedas?) Sera probably got him that mug lol
1, 2, 5, 9, 11, 15, 26, 28, 42, 44, 46, for Mika, Yuko, Kimi, Pricilla, and Martin. (Look, you can technically call answering this doing homework!)
Yessss thank you
1. What’s their full name? Why was that chosen? Does it mean anything?
Mika Ono: I think I touched on this before. Honestly, it was because at that time those were two of the only hiragana I could write from memory and it was an actual name so, Mika. Ono is because Yoko Ono.
Yuko Ogawa: Yuko is actually a girl’s name but I didn’t know it at the time. Pretty much the same as Mika’s name. Ogawa because that was my Japanese teacher’s surname.
Kimi: She doesn’t have a last name yet. Kimi was from a character in Fruits Basket because that series is very important to me.
Pricillia: Also doesn’t have a last name yet. I think someone mentioned priscilla queen of the desert when I was creating her.
Martin: Technically Martin is his last name. He doesn’t use his first name. I don’t remember how I picked Martin.
2. Do they have any titles? How did they get them?
Mika: Well, eventually, people call her Super Mika because she’s a super hero but I’m not sure that counts?
Yuko: He becomes a doctor eventually so he gets that title.
Kimi: N/A
Pricilla: N/A
Martin: N/A
5. Do they have any siblings? What’s their names? What is their relationship with them? Has their relationship changed since they were kids to adults?
Mika: Has an older half sister Ai Ono. They get along pretty well and Ai is the first person to learn about Mika’s desire to be a super hero and helps her with it. However, the whole issue with their dad strains their relationship sometimes but Ai tries very hard to make sure they stay connected. Ai’s a lot less overprotective of Mika then when they were kids.
Yuko: No siblings.
Kimi: No siblings.
Pricilla: She has no contact with any of her family so it’s like she has no siblings though she probably does have some.
Martin: Has an older brother that he rarely contacts since they grew apart and now live on different continents. His brother will occasionally send him a text or something to make sure he’s still alive and a Christmas card but that’s about it.
9. Do animals like them? Do they get on well with animals?
Mika: Mika loves animals, especially dogs, and they absolutely adore her. (she keeps dog treats in her pockets just in case she comes along one)
Yuko: Animals don’t dislike him but since he’s usually with Mika or Kimi he gets overshadowed easily. He’s good with animals.
Kimi: Animals love her as well, but her dog (Hachi) is very easily jealous so he scares other animals away. Hachi is so spoiled.
Pricilla: Animals hate her. It really saddens her because she likes animals a lot better than people.
Martin: Do not give this man animals. They will die.
11. Do they have any special diet requirements? Are they a vegetarian? Vegan? Have any allergies?
Mika: N/A
Yuko: N/A
Kimi: Vegetarian.
Pricilla: N/A
Martin: Gluten intolerance.
15. Are they good at cooking? Do they enjoy it? What do others think of their cooking?
Mika: She’d be ok at cooking if someone ever bothered to teach her how to cook.
Yuko: Great at cooking! He sees it as stress relief. Mika is a lucky woman.
Kimi: She doesn’t really like to cook that much, seeing it as more of a chore. But when she does cook, she’s pretty decent at it.
Pricilla: Loves cooking. Is absolutely horrible at it. Don’t eat anything she makes.
Martin: No one has ever seen him cook. He buys or steals all his food.
26. How do they act when they’re happy? Do they sing? Dance? Hum? Or do they hide their emotions?
Mika: When Mika’s happy, she gets really energetic and talk really fast and smiles a lot. She only dances when she’s gloating.
Yuko: He doesn’t really show his happiness much outwardly. But he’s less likely to correct you or tell you to stop doing something when he’s in a good mood.
Kimi: She hums when she’s happy. But honestly, she tries to be outwardly happy all the time.
Pricilla: She laughs a lot when she’s happy. She’ll laugh at anything remotely funny. But if she’s in a bad mood she’d sooner kill you then laugh.
Martin: He gets this evil smirk that’s kinda creepy. No wonder he’s a villain.
28. What is their biggest fear? What in general scares them? How do they act when they’re scared?
Mika: Mika is scared of being useless, or feeling unwanted. She needs people to need her. That’s why she became a super hero. When she’s scared, she makes really bad decisions.
Yuko: He’s probably scared most of the people he cares about being hurt. Which is hard when your girlfriend is a super hero. He’s also scared of horror movies and bugs. When he’s scared, he freezes.
Kimi: Kimi has a very strong flight reflex. She doesn’t really have a greatest fear, but she’s terrified of worms and other slimy things.
Pricilla: Like good villains, she has the same fears as Mika, but she knows no one wants her so she lashes out at the world.
Martin: Failure. It’s why he keeps insisting they keep going after Mika even though she keeps beating them because he needs to best her. He also is very good at concealing any kind of emotion.
42. What are their goals? What would they sacrifice anything for? What is their secret ambition?
Mika: Mika just wants to help people by beating up criminals. She’d easily sacrifice anything to do this, and has. Nothing secret about it.
Yuko: Yuko just wants to help people by becoming a doctor. Though the only people he’d sacrifice his own health for are his family and close friends. He also really wants to be a dad but at this point he’d never admit it.
Kimi: Kimi just wants to do well in high school and go to a good university and maybe get a boyfriend? She didn’t ask for any of this. She would sacrifice anything for Hachi but that’s about it.
Pricilla: Pricilla just wants to watch society crash and burn because, let’s be real, society sucks. But, she’d give anything to go back to her happy childhood, but she knows that isn’t happening.
Martin: He just wants to be rich and laugh in the face of everyone who’s ever doubted him, and he’s not concerned if society crashes and burns in the process.
44. What is their favorite season? Type of weather? Are they good in the cold or the heat? What weather do they complain in the most?
Mika: She loves spring because it’s warm enough that she doesn’t freeze in her magical girl outfit, but it’s not too warm that she’s a sweaty mess. She complains about any non-perfect weather though.
Yuko: He prefers the cold but doesn’t really have a favorite season. He tries not to complain too much but he complains about it being too humid all the time.
Kimi: She loves summer because she really likes swimming and not having to wear socks. She’d complain more about the cold but she doesn’t complain much in general.
Pricilla: She likes it when it rains, so the rainy season is her favorite. She prefers warm weather but will stubbornly still wear shorts in the winter and refuse to complain about the cold.
Martin: Hates small talk about the weather, so hardly mentions it himself. He likes whatever weather is profitable at the moment. Honestly, he could care less.
46. Do they make a good first impression? Does their first impression reflect them accurately? How do they introduce themselves?
Mika: Depends on if you meet her as herself or as a super hero. Both times she usually makes a good first impression, but in different ways.
Yuko: Yuko can be very kind when he wants to, like if he’s meeting with a patient, but he doesn’t give people who don’t deserve his respect any of it. Mostly, he greets you like a normal person would, but he’s a little bit awkward. Fortunately, he gets better at it over time.
Kimi: She’s very gracious and introduces herself very formally. She comes off as a bit shy, but usually by the second meeting she gets over it.
Pricilla: She’s very brash and always looks like she’s angry, which is exactly how is actually is. Martin doesn’t usually bring her to negotiations because she skips the pleasantries and get straight to business.
Martin: His first impressions usually depend on what he wants you to think of him. If he needs you for something, he’ll be very gracious and lie out of his ass. Usually, people leave him feeling that he is a bit scary, which isn’t true; he is very scary.
(bounces excitedly) I followed you because of the progress shots of the nature map and I'm really excited to see what you do with shadow~~ (and all the others but mostly shadow, heh.) Nature turned out fantastic.
If it helps, I’m hella excited to get to Shadow! I have always LOVED Shadow’s aesthetic and am looking forward to dabbling in all those purples and blues and the vibrant glowing cerulean. It’s one of my favorite color combos.
And I LOVE dark lore a LOT, I’m going to have a field day with it.
