NaNoWriMo 2017: Wild and Free
Hello all! I hope you’re all enjoying the first day of NaNoWriMo, and have had some productive writing time for yourselves! As a way of motivating myself to keep up with my word goal and to try write every day I’ve decided to post daily progress updates! But first I’d like to introduce the project I’m working on: Wild and Free, Book One of The Sarinash Series (I’m using series because I have no idea how many books I’m going to end up writing - could be anywhere between three and six!)
In Wild and Free we follow the journeys of Saoirse, Fiadh, Dwyer, Aure, Ushma, Jyotis, Leeland, Lilith, Ishfaq, and Najwa, as they attempt to create a safe haven from religious persecution and slavery, and end up creating Sarinash, a community, school, and safe haven for children of fae and humans. It also follows Barakah, Taishi, Keegan, Orguelleuse, and Lynne who become the first proper students of Sarinash. In addition we will get glimpses into the future of Sarinash and see how the ethos and qualities that shape Sarinash are formed.
Wild and Free features LGBTQIA+ and non-binary characters, a variety of relationships both romantic and platonic, as well as characters that are dealing with the aftermath of trauma. These are characters that are all a little bit broken, but who find the strength within themselves and each other to build something amazing together, something that will change their lives and the lives of all fae.
Throughout November I will be posting quotes from what I get written during the day, as well as posting tidbits of information about my characters, the world they live in, Sarinash, and other interesting things I can think of like playlists and moodboards, etc... And of course, if people have any questions about any of it I’d love to answer them!
Slán!
