Casual Encounters | Garrett, Penelope, Isaiah | Part I
When: Thursday, February 6th. 3:22am. Where: Varies from the Diaz's driveway to the Deegan Household. Why: Penelope needed a place to sleep for the night.
Garrett: [Garrett jogged out of his house after shutting the door quietly behind him, making his way to the black Silverado in the driveway. He was in route to Penelope's house with in seconds, making his way through the town to the girls house, left leg bouncing slightly as he scratched the back of his neck. He didn't know what was going on for Pen to want to be out of her house but he wasn't gonna question it. It didn't take long for him to be pulling up beside her driveway not wanting to pull in, figuring she would be sneaking out and wouldn't want her to get caught due to him sitting in her driveway. Sending her a quick text that he was there, Garrett put the truck in park, turning the country radio station down a bit, and looked in the direction of the barely lit house.]
Princess Penny: [Penelope was growing sick and tired of her home the more days passed. She didn't know what it was about one taste of rebellion that caused her average life to be suddenly too sickening for her to bear, but it provided no help in trying to adapt to her family again. With headphones in, and all the outside noise out, she wouldn't have noticed Garrett was there until her phone vibrated on the bed indicating a text. She wouldn't just waltz down stairs and out the door however, so instead like she has been recently doing for the past few months when she needed to sneak out to go downtown -- she maneuvered her way out the window, finding the corner of her roof that lead to the backyard. All she needed to do was use the gate covered in a few vines and miscellaneous plants to climb down. Managing that as if routine she heard a car up the drive way and she assumed it was Garrett. Quietly, she opened the doorway of the gate and closed it again before walking to the direction of the car and opening the unlocked passenger door.] You made it. [She sighed out in almost relief after closing the door.]
Garrett: [Garrett squinted slightly as he noticed a figure moving out of the gate, Garrett recognized it as Penelope after a few seconds, hitting the unlock button on the door as a small smile pulled on his cheeks once she hopped inside the truck.] Wouldn't want you to miss out on the pancakes tomorrow morning. [Garrett chuckled, placing his foot on the break and shifting into drive before he pulled away from the house, leaning back in his seat to get more comfortable.] Did you bring clothes or do you want me to bring you back here before school tomorrow? [The boy asked, looking over at her as he came to a stop sign before he looked from left to right, then went straight through it driving in the direction of his house. It was late, and almost instinctively Garrett was keeping his eyes peeled for Isaiah as he drove down the familiar roads.] Do you wanna talk about what made you not wanna be home or do you just wanna let it go? [He asked, eyes flickering in her direction for a moment, a little concerned for the girl in his passengers seat.]
Isaiah: [As per usual, Isaiah was out and wandering. Since getting kicked out of Bev and Sam's place the couple days before, he felt like he needed to be out even more, getting the air, clearing his head, whether it was by means of simply wandering and getting the fresh air or letting the toxic air he forced upon his lungs be some form of comfort. Tonight that comfort had happened to come from the half a blunt he hadn't finished the night before and the third cigarette he was currently burning his way through. It was right around the time he started heading back the direction he started out the night in, making a slow, half-conscious seeming walk back passed 7-11, and passed the park, toward the more neighborhood centric part of town. He wasn't paying overly close attention as he went, one hand stuffed into his jacket pocket, the other absently bringing the cigarette back and forth from his mouth to his side and back again as he walked.]
Princess Penny: [Penelope chuckled under her breath at the reminder of the breakfast of choice she'd be having the next day.] Right, forgot. [Putting on the seat belt, she then set the small bag she brought beneath her feet instead of keeping it on her lap. She breathed out to become more relax, somehow each time she sneaked out the anxiety always had a kick in her body for the first few minutes. Though the more she did it the less that shot of nervousness lasted. Looking at him as he asked about her clothes, she gently smiled.] Just a Radiohead tee and a pair of shorts for pajamas. I don't think I'm going to school tomorrow anyways. Probably go downtown and meet with some people from Dead Beat. [ She smiled at the thought of her hanging out with common, poetic intellectuals, maybe in hopes that if she stuck around long enough that poetry of her own wouldn't sound so mediocre. Leaning towards the window, she set her elbow on the door's arm rest, looking out at every object they passed by in the night. Her mind was various places at the moment and really focusing on the scenery and the subtle conversation with Garrett was really the most she could handle without becoming too strenuous. Her eyes diverted back to Garrett when he hit her with another question, shrugging as she felt comfortable enough to vent unlike most people she knew. But she wasn't about to go on about her never ending dilemmas in her family.] It's a long story, I just can't handle being under the same roof as my mother...and my three other siblings... and sometimes my dad. [Penelope chuckled out of the realistic sad part about it how she practically stated her whole family. It was funny to her, well ironic at the least. Not that she didn't take it seriously, but sometimes when you look at things from an outside perspective it takes it to a lighter level. That, at least, Penelope could handle.]
Garrett: [Garrett nodded at her comment about not going to school.] I can swing you by in the morning if you want, the truck'll be packed but everyone'll fit. [He chuckled, thinking about the back seat of his truck being much more full than usual as he kept driving, glancing at her as she spoke for a split second before his eyes were back on the road, still keeping his eyes peeled for Isaiah.] Well when you're around the same people all the time.. [He trailed off his face scrunching up.] Family can be tough. [Garrett mumbled. If he were being honest, he couldn't really comment on the subject, his family was close to a point where he could talk to his mom, dad or sister about almost anything between the three of them. Pressing his lips together he shrugged.] But the guest room is always open if you need it, yeah? [He smiled as he looked at the road in front of him, they were getting closer to his house now as they passed the 711 just a few blocks away.] Well, well. [Garrett mumbled under his breath as his headlights landed on a leather jacket, coming closer as Garrett's truck drew near. Honking his horn once at Isaiah, he chuckled to himself as he pulled up next to his friend.] Fancy meeting you here, I-ball.
Isaiah: [Finishing off the last of the cigarette between his fingers, Isaiah dropped it to the cement, snuffing it out with his shoe before continuing to walk along. Hand finding it's way tired back through his hair, the boy jolted slightly at the sound of the horn honking, having expected the headlights he noticed to continue on passed. He turned as the truck pulled up along side the curb, grinning crookedly after a moment when he recognized it.] Sup? [He chuckled, glassy eyes moving passed his friend to the girl that was seated in the passenger seat, pointing a finger toward her a moment later.] Not the girl I was expecting, but I actually like you, so we're good. [With a laugh, he made his way around the front of the truck to the passenger side to open the door to the back seat. As he slid in, he leaned forward over the back of the passenger seat, murmuring close to Penelope's ear.] Always a pleasure, princess. [Snickering, he slumped back against the seat and lazily tugged the seat belt on.] What's happenin, why do we have a Penny and not a blonde one tonight?
Princess Penny: [Penelope arched her eyebrows at Garrett as he talked about how full it would be. Not that she had a problem with it, but she was just wondering who else would be in it besides his sister she only knew by association. She let the thought go seeing it's not like whoever else packed the car would be a problem.] Sounds like a plan. [She smirked at him before her eyes went straight back to the scenery passing by the window. Without looking back, she just nodded, not really knowing what to say seeing it was true and she just wasn't in the right state of mind to go on about it. It's not like her problems were even that serious compared to people she knew dealing with addiction, heartbreak, and the likings -- then again when you hang out with people who do slam as their only release for these kinds of situations, it was only expected to not take the silver lining for granted.] You're too nice to me, Garrett. [She smirked, before letting out a small 'thanks' in between the quiet chuckles. If she was being honest she already caught herself in a trance with her head up in some sort of rainy cloud she didn't wanna be in. It just came back to memories about that night and the morning after with her mom barely murmuring a word to her, the sad part being that wasn't what made the morning after her birthday weird since her mother practically forgot about her as if routine. She was snapped back to reality as the car horn was honked, her eyes shooting straight to Isaiah as she rolled her eyes at the mere sight of him.] Oh god. [She groaned to herself, turning her head to face her passenger side again in hopes that if she ignored him enough he'd avoid the princess Penny remarks or even worse, remarks of the night they went tagging.] Well I'm so glad I'm up to par with your preference in company. [She sarcastically remarked, leaning away from the door seeing he'd be around it as he walked around. When he did get to the back and had the audacity to continue with the nickname she genuinely laughed at how ridiculous he was.] Oh, I'm sure. [She replied, letting out a small sigh of annoyance towards the pesk in the back.] Garrett generously offered his humble abode when I needed a place to stay for the night. Though when he offered I didn't realize it'd include having to deal with a shithead on the ride there. [She retorted, unaware that Isaiah actually lived in the basement and the ride wasn't the only situation she'd have to deal with.]
Garrett: [Garrett watched Isaiah move around to the passenger side of the truck, waiting for him to get in the backseat and shut the door before he put the truck into drive and moved down the road. Raising an eyebrow as Penelope answered Isaiah's question, he shook his head slightly.] I figured since you refuse the guest room I'd offer it up. [He rolled his eyes playfully.] Should I kick him out and make him walk the rest of the way or something? Besides, we're almost there and he'll go downstairs and stuff his face then pass out, you won't need to tolerate him much longer. [He chuckled, turning his eyes back to the road as he looked in the rear view mirror at his friend.] And before you ask there's left over Chinese in the fridge, but you probably just came from 711 anyway. [Garrett rattled off as he continued the way back to his house, slumping in the drivers seat scratching at the bridge of his nose. There was something hanging in the air in the truck, but he couldn't quite peg what it was while he turned onto his road, pulling into the driveway of his house and parking the truck in his usual spot.] Dad's at work, and mom and Ky sleep like logs so don't worry about tiptoeing. [Garrett muttered as he hopped out of the truck, looking at Isaiah now.] But don't fucking stomp your feet.
Isaiah: [From the back seat, Isaiah chuckled at Penelope's explanation, his head tilting sideways to lean against the door.] Hostility, mm. Sorry to burst your bubble, princess. [Letting his eyes fall closed, he vaguely listened to the words his friend said, nodding slowly in response instead of bothering to mention that he hadn't actually ransacked the convenience store for the night like night's past. The past couple days he had been a little on the uncharacteristically quiet side, for the moment it seemed a similar case. As they pulled into the familiar driveway, Isaiah was unbuckling and reaching for the door handle before the truck was even turned off. He rolled his eyes when Garrett shot him a look.] When do I ever stomp my feet, fuck off, dickbag. [He slid out of the car, shutting the door behind him and eyeing Penelope sideways with a faint, almost knowing smirk as he walked passed her to the front door. He opened it and held it open for the girl with a wave of his hand for her to walk in in front of him before he walked in behind her, purposefully doing so in front of his best friend behind him.] Going to bed or wanna hang out with you good ol' pal Isaiah for a bit? [He asked, leaning nearer to Penelope even though his lowly spoken question was directed at the both of them. He nodded his head in the direction of the kitchen before turning to walk into the familiar space, making his usual way right to the fridge.]
Princess Penny: [Penelope simply laughed at the suggestion of kicking Isaiah out of the car. In all honesty she's dealt with worse company, but just because she lost her virginity to him doesn't mean she'd act all buddy-buddy suddenly. Which was a pity really how stupid girls could be with the mentality sex cures all. Hearing Garrett explain how Isaiah actually lives there made her arch a brow in complete horror about how anyone can keep him in their home. Playfully, she rolled her eyes trying to avoid the situation as much as taking it to a complete other route was tempting. As they finally got to the house, she unbuckled her seat belt, grabbed her small bag, and hopped out of the car. Walking up to Isaiah opening the door for her, she scoffed at him almost, rolling her eyes as she walked in, she muttering 'asshole' under her breath. With her bag's strap on one shoulder, she set it on the ground for a second to knock off her Vans considering the house looked nice enough and it was obvious grass stains wouldn't match with the carpet.] Tempting, but I'm not really feeling the opportunity of "accidentally" getting groped while I go off about some sexist remark you probably happened to wrongfully make. [Penelope didn't even glance at Isaiah now as she picked up her bag from the floor again and ran her fingers through her hair, pushing it back a bit as she sighed out and turned to look at Garrett.] You wanna show me where the guest room is?
Garrett: [Nudging his boots off after he walked inside and shut the door behind him, locking it quickly, Garrett stood straight up and looked between Penelope and Isaiah, eyebrows raising up a little. Whatever was hanging in the air when they were in the truck seemed to have followed them into the house. Chuckling sightly as the girl so kindly turned his friend down, Garrett gave Isaiah a small smug before he nodded the brunette towards the stairs, jogging up them with the intention of her following him. Making his way to the bedroom in the hall that was between his sisters and the bathroom, Garrett reached around the corner and flipped the switch, light pushing through the four walls of the cozy and fashionable bedroom.] So yeah, this is it, bed's comfy..and the bathroom is that door. [Garrett mumbled softly, pointing to the door just to the right of the one he was standing in front of.] There's extra toothbrushes and stuff in the cabinet above the sink if you need them.. or anything and my room's at the end of the hall across from the linen closet so if you need anything just knock. [He shrugged, turning to head downstairs.] I'm probably gonna hangout with I, for a bit, so feel free to go down to the basement if you want. [Garrett went down a few steps before turning to look at her.] If a puppy barges into your room just..toss him back out in the hall, he's friendly though, I promise. [Garrett laughed lightly before jogging back down the stairs to the kitchen but not before giving the girl a quiet goodnight and a smile.]
Isaiah: [Raising his eyebrows and not even bothering to conceal the smirk that worked its way onto his face, Isaiah merely nodded at the girl's defensive retort, the amused expression remaining on his face.] Right, well. Food. [He snickered with a shake of his head as he made his way fully into the kitchen. Ducking into the fridge as he tended to nearly every night now, he pulled out a couple of the small boxes of Chinese food his friend had mentioned as the other two teenagers went up the stairs. Getting a fork out of the drawer, Isaiah was half dug into the food in the box he had open while the other was tucked in the crook of his arm as he headed down the stairs into the basement. He plopped lazily down onto the couch, shoveling food into his mouth as he slumped into the cushions, eyes flicking toward the stairs a minute or two later when Garrett finally came down to join him.] You need to stop picking up girls who hate me. [He chuckled around another forkful of food.]
Garrett: [Not hearing any noise in the kitchen, Garrett knew Isaiah was already downstairs. Pushing the door open with his foot, Garrett moved down the steps and looked at Isaiah, rolling his eyes at his friends comment.] Last I heard she tolerated you, so what ever dick thing you said to change that is your problem. [He laughed, plopping down on the couch next to the dark haired boy, taking the box from the table and opening it to pull a chicken finger out of it, practically shoving the whole thing in his mouth.] So what did you say to make yourself so suddenly more asslike than before, hmm? [Garrett spewed through his mouthful of chicken finger, raising his eyebrows at his friend as the clanking of paws against hardwood drew his attention over to the stairs, the dalmatian puppy Garrett had gotten for Christmas bounding over and jumping onto the couch. Slouching back against the couch, Garrett pulled Pongo into his lap, scratching behind the pups ears as he waited for an explanation from Isaiah.]
Isaiah: [Rolling his eyes, Isaiah circled his fork around in an absent motion, his hand joining it after a moment. Even in the still lingering state of high he had going for him, he knew better than to blurt out exactly what had happened when there was still the tiniest possibility of the girl he'd be talking about finding her way downstairs, whether the likelihood was extremely high or not.] I did nothing. I'm a fucking saint, okay. I took her tagging, that's what she wanted. [Shrugging and leaving out the more intimate details of what had gone on the night of Penelope's birthday right off the bat, the boy forked some more of the food in the thin paper container into his mouth, tilting his head back against the couch as he swallowed.] Maybe she's pissed I totally looked up her skirt when we hopped the fence we did. [He snorted out a laugh and shook his head to himself as he took another bite of food.]
Princess Penny: [When Garrett explained to Penelope the tricks and trades of the house she just nodded and srt her bag down on the bed after wishing her a good night. She looked around the room a bit, feeling more at ease at the thought of not being in her own home gave her a certain kind of relief. She sat down on the made bed, unzipping the bag and pouring the contents of it out seeing just her pajamas, toothbrush, and other overnight things that she packed in a matter of a fee minutes. Penelope got off the bed and closed the door to quickly change out if her distressed jeans. If she knew Isaiah would be here she would've avoided wearing shorts that questioned if they were even there compared to her large band tee, but he was and there wasn't much she could do about it. Releasing her hair from the small braid she kept it in, she ran her fingers through the somewhat 'wavy' locks the braid indented before putting her clothes from today in the bag. Walking out of the room she decided she might as well tag along with Garrett seeing she had nothing else to do, and mostly because she was nervous about Isaiah saying anything about what happened the night of her birthday. Penelope followed the muffled sound of the chatter as she reached downstairs, opening the basement door and walking further down the stairs.] Not interrupting anything am I?
( i lost garretts reply but basically hes just being a lil cutie pie puppy :c )
Isaiah: [Wincing gently and backhanding Garrett in the chest in return for the smack upside the head, Isaiah rolled his eyes.] I'm great, that's what I am, shut the hell up. [He mumbled around another mouthful of food. His eyes flicked in the direction of the basement stairs as Penelope came down them, his gaze slowly taking its time up her legs before working up the rest of her to meet her eyes with a faint grin.] We were just about to start making out, wanna watch? [Laughing, the boy took another bite of food before setting the container with the fork sticking out of it still on the coffee table, then kicked off his shoes. He eyed the girl carefully before leaning back against the arm of the couch in a lazy manner.] Deegan household, home of the runaway teens. [He chuckled with a light shake of his head and pointing a thumb in Garrett's direction.] You're lucky he was even here to get you, he's been wrapped up in his girlfriend lately.
Princess Penny: [Penelope leaned against the wall a bit before nodding at Garrett's response.] I'll be sure to keep my hands off the food then. [It wasn't long until her eyes met with Isaiah's again, well partially seeing his obvious lack of self-awareness as he saw it as no big deal to practically look her up and down as if it were the first pair of legs he's laid eyes on. Rolling her eyes at his response, she simply ignored it as she walking towards the opposite couch and sitting down.] I don't fucking blame him, gives him the opportunity to have a break from dealing with you. [Penelope snorted out a short chuckle before getting herself more comfortable on the couch. She sighed out, noticing the awkward air of her being here before her gaze accidentally went back to Isaiah, before quickly glancing at Garrett.] Well don't let me stop you both from your 'boy talk' or whatever.
Garrett: [Garrett looked between them again, eyebrows creased downwards slightly, before shaking the thought of trying to figure out what exactly was going on away, though he had a feeling it had to do with Isaiah peeking up the girls skirt. Chuckling at Penelope's comment, Garrett smiled smugly in the direction of Isaiah.] See, at least Pen understands. [Garrett spoke through his laughter, scratching at the sleepy puppy's ears gently.] We weren't really having guy talk, just rambling about how Isaiah is an ass. [Garrett shrugged, obviously not wanting to bring up what they were really talking about before Penelope came down.]
Isaiah: [Rolling his eyes, a grin still remained on Isaiah's face as the two made comments mostly at his expense, unfazed by the mild insult. His shoulders rose and fell in a shrug as the boy mussed a hand back through his dark hair.] You say that like it's news. Does anyone not know I'm an ass, like, those poor souls. So much left to learn. [Snickering, his eyes flicked in Penelope's direction, eyeing her indiscreetly again, tongue dragging along his bottom lip momentarily before he pushed up into more of a sitting position.] You know what would be real interesting to talk about? What you're doing here, princess. [Resting his chin in his hand on the arm of the couch as he rose his eyebrows at her with an amused expression.]
Princess Penny: [Slightly shrugging her shoulders in a "guilty as charged" manner when Garrett commented about Penelope understanding, she let out an aggravated at Isaiah's sarcastic remarks. She avoided looking back at him at all costs even though from the corner of her eye she spotted him being his usually cheeky self. Her attention though was caught at he his interrogation on the reason she was here in the first place. Adjusting her legs to sit criss cross Penelope pushed her hair back a bit as her fingers went through dark locks, trying to think if an explanation that spared details he didn't have to know.] Well my family was pissing me off, and it's not a secret ever since my birthday my mom practically wants to disown me.... so I say why the hell do I have to deal with the hostility when I can bring the hostility to you right? [She smiled so falsely with that soon fading into an annoyed expression you'd swear Penelope would be named after it.] Not that you'd understand.
Garrett: [Sitting back against the couch, Garrett looked from left to right between the pair as they bantered, chewing on his bottom lip while he watched them. That damn air, whatever it was that was making everything around them so heavy seemed to have floated back around them, Garrett sighing slightly while he listened to Penelope explain herself, his face wrinkling up in a small amount of distaste at her last words, looking over to his left at the boy next to him.] So me being the fantastic problem solver that I am invited her here for sleep and Thursday morning pancakes then dropping her off wherever she wants to goo that isn't school. [Garrett nodded, finishing off his statement while he lifted his feet and crossed one over the other on the coffee table, head falling back against the cushions of the couch.]
Isaiah: [Isaiah's hand fell away from his chin finally, the grin that had seemingly been plastered on his face since getting in the truck faltering some as he listened to the girl's words. His eyes narrowed slightly for not more than a couple of seconds.] You're right, I understand absolutely nothing about family hostility, I've got great family values. [He raised his eyebrows at her with an overly sarcastic smile, complete with flash of his teeth before he quickly wiped the look from his face, distracting from the momentary lapse in his typically cheeky demeanor by reaching for the cardboard container of food he had been eating from before. Turning his head slightly at Garrett's tacked on explanation, he let out a laugh after taking a bite of food, jokingly bringing a hand to his own chest and feigning a teasing swoon.] What a hero, isn't he?
Princess Penny: [Her face remained emotionless, whether or not Isaiah chose to hide his authentic expressions a different way than Penelope. The brunette kept her glance on him, now unafraid of of shooting her icy glare, even as Garrett tried his best to take the predicament to a lighter place -- the tense air remained as it was. Which honestly if she thought about it, she couldn't even imagine how confused Garrett must've been right now. Her eyes flickered between Isaiah and Garrett once before her glance as routine fell back on Isaiah. Almost too nonchalantly changing changing the subject, she didn't even have a thought about making the air around them lighter. The stubbornness in the girl almost overtook her as she remained on the uncomfortable side of things.] And why are you here? Since you've claimed to possess such outstanding family values I'd just figure you'd be with them instead of being in your friend's basement past midnight.
Garrett: [Garrett closed his eyes as Penelope retorted Isaiah's comment, a small barely audible groan leaving his lips.] Tolerate. [He mumbled, his eyes rolling under their lids before he sat up, looking between the both of them.] I don't really see much good coming from this conversation at four am, do you? [Garrett looked right at Penelope for a moment before looking over at Isaiah.] Do you? [Garrett looked back and forth between the two.] It's four am, and Isaiah is going to school tomorrow so I'm sure he'd love to sleep, just as much as I would, and my sister and my mom probably wouldn't wanna be woken up by excessive yelling over something that really shouldn't matter, hmm? So how about we just..don't.
Isaiah: [Shoulders tensing slightly, Isaiah's eyes barely narrowed once again, though they stayed focused on the food in his lap instead of focusing on the girl who had spoken. For a few seconds, he stayed quiet, letting Garrett play some sort of mediator between the two of them, giving thought to the possibility of letting it go like his friend suggested. However, instead, a sarcastic expression once again touched his features and he pursed his lips together before looking at Penelope with a look of false amusement.] Are you asking because you missed the sarcasm, or because you actually wanna hear me have to say I don't have anywhere else to go? [Cocking his head a little more to the side, his eyebrows shot up, as if challenging her to throw another comeback at him. After setting down the food on the coffee table again, he leaned back against the arm of the couch, holding a hand up in indication toward Garrett.] No, but really what a great idea. Kudos to you, G-man, you're totally right. We don't want to have this conversation, right now or otherwise.
Princess Penny: [Not realizing how her palms started sweating up a bit due to her anger riling up along with the anxiety from the regret she was feeling for always taking the step too far. It was the best and worst thing about her, persistence and not knowing the border between pushing it and completely tearing down the barrier. She hadn't noticed how she held her breath a bit when he spoke again instead of following his friend's suggestion, she was taken back, as blatant as that was. Not because she hasn't noticed the sarcasm, but the sharp drop of temperature between the two that she didn't expect to feel so regretful towards. I mean, what did she expect from having to keep at it with something that obviously ticked him off. Sighing out, she uncrossed her legs and got up off the couch.] Always have to have the last fucking word don't you? [She angrily muttered under her breath before walking towards the stairs.] Night, Garrett. [Penelope said, her voice faint as if her farewell was more of an apology, as she started going up the stairs to leave the basement.]
~lol and thats what u missed on glee more to be continued~
