So have been seeing on lots of sites and twitter a comment that Cait admitted this weekend during a panel at the Highlanders con that she said Sam's name while filming the sex scene in The Reckoning. I was there and attended both of Cait's panel and can categorically say she did not say this nor was the question even asked. The only mistake she admitted to was spelling Fraser with a Z in the deed of Cessine scene.

Someone sent me the screencap of the fan saying that Cait admitted at the Highlanders 2 convention that she said Sam’s name during a sex scene. I’ve whited out part of this fan’s user name, and so I will refer to her as “Pep” here.

So thanks for debunking this gem1886.

A well known ES (or former ES, not sure, but one who has been quite unbiased lately) also debunked it. Someone sent me a screencap of her debunking this.

Therefore we have at least two fans (gem1886 and uselesstat) publicly stating that Cait never said this. And a third party saying other fans who attended Highlanders 2 have also denied that Cait said it.

Maybe Pep misunderstood what Cait said or maybe she stretched the truth. Regardless, I’m glad that others are willing to speak up and say this never happened.

[NOTE: Shortly after this was posted, I learned that there was a TRANSCRIPT of the Q & A’s from a verra reliable source The Outlander Cast Blog (OCB). It wasn’t a surprise that that question and the answer were nowhere to be found in the transcript.]

Some people swear they heard Cait say Sam’s name. Others (such as myself) didn’t hear it no matter how many times we played the video. When noises are ambiguous, it is easy to hear what we want to hear. “Pareidolia” is the human tendency to find familiar patterns in ambiguous visual or auditory stimuli. So that is one explanation for some fans hearing Cait say Sam’s name and some fans not hearing it. (Or maybe some fans have better audio equipment or better hearing than others. Who knows?)

It is always possible Cait did say it. However, if it happened it wouldn’t mean that she was having an affair with Sam, just that she had a natural slip between the name of the character of Jamie and the name of the actor right in front of her. As someone pointed out to me Cait called Ned Gowan “Bill” once by accident in a blooper. But then again it was a blooper that didn’t make it into the final cut.

It is hard for me to believe that a sound editor would have left Cait saying Sam’s name in the final cut. I understand that sound editors have very sensitive audio equipment and could easily erase the sound if they heard it. So if the sound editor didn’t catch it, did it really happen? My tendency is to say it didn’t but each person is free to interpret what they heard or didn’t hear for themselves.

ADDENDUM 05.03.19: This saga continued with Pep changing her story about the panel when no one would corroborate it. She said it happened at the signing table and not at the panel (see POST). To my knowledge no one ever came forward and corroborated her changed signing table story. Both “sides” assumed Pep made it up or misheard something.

Have you seen the latest comments and pictures being made. So Tony is definitely her PA as otherwise he wouldn't be able to have that much time off to follow her everywhere. This is backed up by 2 dodgy pictures with Sam in Budapest with a dark haired woman walking away in the background. Please prove these to be unfounded as the rest.

They are desperate and grasping at straws. Tony is Cait’s boyfriend. She has said in the past that she is dating a “civilian” and that she gets concerned about SOs who “haven’t signed up for this.” And now we have her acknowledging her boyfriend was texting her in NYC when we know Sam was in Europe. So Sam isn’t the boyfriend.

Tony has a flexible schedule because he runs a bar and has people to manage it when he is away. He has spent that last three New Year’s with Cait (that was Donal in the boat in Costa Rica that they claim was Sam and Tony was sitting right next to Cait–you can even see his glasses in the silhouette–and a witness saw him with Cait at the airport–and witnesses said Sam remained in Thailand for New Year’s). NO PA spends three NYEs in a row with the person they work for. And Sam spent NONE of those NYE’s with her. .We have a MOUNTAIN OF EVIDENCE supporting Tony and Cait as being a couple. 

As for the two photos they prove nothing. Sam and Cait were filming season 2 there at the time. These were taken about two years ago.

Three castmates hanging out in a foreign city on their time off from filming. So the photos above mean nothing.

Sam is with MacKenzie. Cait is with Tony. Only a group of desperate women to keep their ship alive would come up with the ridiculous explanations they do to try to explain away years of evidence that Sam and Cait aren’t a couple.
