Here's a brief list of some webcomics that you really should know about if you enjoy the genre at all.
When I first got into webcomics I really wanted to find a site that would do something like this regularly, but there wasn't much out there, hopefully someone like me will find this helpful.
'A webcomic about BDSM lesbiens is one of the most well written stories with the best developed characters I've ever seen?'
'Uh-huh? Yeah sure... wierdo.'
'Guys, I'm serious!'
I cannot recommend Sunstone enough. It's erotic, funny, informative on the subject and the artwork would require a whole other blog post to discuss.
Be warned updates are very irregular, but every new page is worth the wait. Needless to say given the subject matter, we're talking NSFW, although it's less unsuitable for graphic imagery and more for the involuntary squee-ing caused by this unbelievably adorable webcomic.
It turns out the prohibition era needed more cats! Anthropomorphic felines make a living bootlegging alcohol in this webcomic, which in my opinion is every bit as good as Boardwalk Empire or the Untouchables ( and you don't know how much I love those things but that is saying a lot!) Charming characters and relationships, moral ambiguity as well as an attention to detail in each frame that is something to behold.
Prone to hiatus, you've been warned.
More astonishing artwork to make us feel unproductive. Said gorgeous post-apocalyptic imagery accompanies this webcomic which takes my personal favourite approach to the end of the world; goofing around and ignoring it.
If you need more zombies, vampires, panda mugs, and crazy roommates in your life, then Pumpkin Spiced is the comic for you. A sweet story with the simple message of being true to yourself, showing a wide range of different characters who attempt to do just that.
An excellent example of why if the type of media you want does not exist yet, you should create it yourself. The writer of 14 nights has made a unique story about a man with a fear of sex. The story is romantic and touching, the artwork is NSFW yet never feels gratuitous. The imagery is always relevant to the subject matter and very beautiful.
