He’s not going to pretend he’s a little surprised by the response. Tomo’s not the type to hide his feelings -- not unless it’s something deeply and gut-wrenchingly private because, as we all know, that’s a whole other level of hot steaming bullshit -- and he likes to make a point of being upfront. It’s his own special way of claiming freedom. Nobody can create an image for you if you spend your life shattering it. Yes, Tomo Katsumura is any PR team’s worst nightmare and he is quite frankly loving it. The surprise, though mild, is written clear across his face but there is a tinge of amusement as well, an eyebrow quirked and a slight smirk playing across his lips. It’s the sort of sympathy you could only get from someone who also happens to be a nosy little shit. But it’s also same sort you could only get from someone who is, perhaps, familiar enough with this sort of resentment to treat it so playfully.

“Okay, so, that’s not the kind of thing people normally say unprompted”, says Tomo, leaning his chin against the palm of his hand, “Honestly, that’s the kind of thing people say when there’s something they’ve gotta get off their chest.” As much as Tomo enjoys being dangerously honest, he’s no stranger to the world of repressed emotion, of holding things back for the sake of being easier to deal with. For the sake of becoming more ‘palatable’. He’s not so sure the latter is much of a concern to Ren. There’s no judgement in this fact, he’s unsure simply because he has never asked, but he gets the feeling that, whatever the reasoning, she’s the type to keep things to herself. “Either way”, he goes on, deciding not to dwell on things too long. He’s lived his whole life with an insatiable need to keep things moving, “If you need to get something out of your system, you can. Just think of it like this a really shitty club for people with dead fathers who sucked. And, uh, had legs.”
