Horripilant Preview Emerges: A Spine-Chilling Incremental Dungeon Horror
Horripilant demo has arrived, bringing a spine-chilling incremental dungeon crawler horror game to both Linux and Windows PC. All thanks to the creative mind of developer Alexandre Declos for this haunting adventure. Which you can play free on both Steam and itch.
Developer Alexandre Declos couldn’t be more eager to share this with you. My twisted little dungeon crawler Horripilant has just released its demo, and it’s packed full of horror vibes, creepy crawlies, and that sweet, addictive incremental progression we all secretly (or not so secretly) like. And yes, fellow Linux warriors — we have native support right out of the gate. We don’t do OS discrimination here.
So, what exactly is this? Imagine the unsettling, slow-burn horror of Vermis, now smash that together with the brain-tickling loop of an idle / incremental game — but with way more control, puzzles, and actual horror. It's a point and click nightmare disguised as a dungeon crawler, serving as a perfect setting. I promise, you haven’t played anything quite like it.
And here's the kicker — it's part of Steam Next Fest, running from June 9 to 16. So if you're curious, this is the perfect time to check out the Horripilant demo, share your thoughts, and help shape the final form of this title.
In the demo, you’ll dive right into the meat of the release — the incremental gameplay loop that’s at the heart of Horripilant. You’ll be fighting off horrific, grotesque dungeon foes, collecting weird materials, upgrading your gear, and yeah… meeting God. The mysterious kind. The kind that gives you powerful boons… or maybe just watches you suffer.
Horripilant | Demo Release Teaser
The Horripilant demo lets you play uninterrupted up to level 10 (out of 1000!), which clocks in at around 1 hour and 45 minutes of solid, creepy gameplay. Even better — your progress carries over into the full release when it launches. So nothing's wasted. You're building toward something real.
Honestly? I’ve played so many idle and incremental title where the loop is fun, but there’s just nothing outside of it. This gameplay is a love letter to the genre — but also a challenge to it. What if the developer keeps the juicy progression but adds a haunting story? What if it made you feel something — unease, curiosity, awe?
The gameplay will also mess with your head and scratch that power curve itch. That’s what makes this project special, and hopefully you feel that when you play it.
So yeah — go check out the Horripilant demo on Steam and itch right now. Whether you’re a hardcore dungeon diver or an idle game junkie, this dungeon crawler horror is for you. Which you can play natively on both Linux and Windows PC.
See you in the dark. Don’t forget your torch.
