i personally would keep it to a side blog, i love this blog for the specific daily posts about arin. i like the fanart and the fanfiction, i would just prefer to see it elsewhere. i hope that makes sense and doesn't come across as rude!!

How did you come to like Raphael so much that you started writing about him? What did you think of him when you first met him in the game and did your feelings change/evolve in any way during your playthrough? Was his character the one who pushed you towards writing dark fics, and if so, why do you think that is? thx <3

Oh I’ve been digging dark shit even before Baldur’s Gate 2 was out, so Raphael is def not the guilty one! And I’ve written non-con way before him already.

I was extremely attracted towards him in act 1 and act 2 mainly because of what I perceived as an overt sexual aggression aka shameless flirting. I was really digging the condescending, patronizing, assholish vibe. When he changed into cambion I was smitten, smitten, I am telling ya.

But shit hit the fan in act 3 where I was dissapointed by basically… everything. The character was so defanged, ridiculed and cheapened in my eyes I immediately went for AO3 to search for “fix it”s. Nobody wanted to fix him in the way I wanted to fix him (aka show me a Raphael I’d be bloody terrified of) so I wrote the HWLL monster and indulged into thousands upon thousands of rape fantasy words.

I just re-read belle du jour and wanted to ask if Raphael (in as best of a way that he can) loves Judith. Would he call what they have love specifically? Or do you think he knows it’s more of a we-have-good-hate-sex-and-are-addicted situation.

oh my god how do I answer that without obligatory what is love baby don't hurt me don't hurt me no more?

I have my own idea idea of what love is, and love is 1) at least somewhat unconditional and 2) capable of self-sacrifice.

(1) So, would Raphael love Judith if she were ugly, powerless, would birth weak cubs, (insert your own adjective?) -> no, he wouldn't. He would drop her like a hot potato if she ceased to be the most coveted trophy in all Hells. Raphael needs only the best, and that's the closest he had to "the best".

(2) Would he ever give up his Archdevil Throne to e.g. save Judith's life? -> Again, no, he wouldn't. He comes first. Always. In every possible scenario.

So no, what they have is not love because Raphael is not capable of love as I understand it.

Can he still be obsessed, extremely infatuated, does he still covet her attention at all costs and desires to have her by his side always? Yes, of course.

Raphael himself calls it love and thinks he loves Judith because he obv has a different idea to me of what it is. Besides, love is for sure a shiny pretty little thing he wants, and most of all he wants to be loved.
