lemme just say that the most baffling thing about "reviews" coming from fans who favor DMC DON'T do a good job understanding the story.
like i GET it you don't like this iteration but
not liking it =/= it's a review
i LOVE the reboot and I can point out my own criticisms with regards to its story
(sorry can't say about gameplay coz I don't have the game)
yet (and I can't believe it took me this long) these "reviews" are equating their rose-colored glasses, nostalgia and preferences as if it's the ONLY basis for their reviews!
THIS is particularly a flaw in their review when they keep pointing out reboot Dante's personality and kept highlighting ONLY when he's swearing, and NEVER fully shows the context to even those situations.... And says he's always mean.
Really?! So he's mean in those moments with Kat after their initial meeting? He's mean when he's listening to his twin brother regarding the demons?
He's "mean" 😨 as these reviewers clutch their pearls and try to tell their church that this reboot has done something "mean" for existing, and that's the only thing to justify their "reviews"
lastly it's like these "reviewers" are suddenly refusing to acknowledge the most basic of storyline tropes and just say "it's so cliche" "I don't like it..." But flip around when cliches happen to their favorite DMC. So suddenly their skills in pointing out story tropes turns on when it's their fave game, but couldn't do that and do a proper criticism on something they don't like.
You know, it's quite simple: if you don't like it and can't make a proper review/critique of it because of your own biases, just don't do a review of it.
