LYDIA & BETA ORGANISED CRIME AU FT @iam-beta
'there's not such thing as good money or bad money. there's just money.'
@iam-beta set after she ran away from carol, let's play Sis Snapped
To anyone attuned to the mood of the pack, the difference would be visceral. As if a tectonic plate had shift beneath them, leaving them unsure of where they stood anymore but afraid to voice the fact. Eyes followed him all the way to Lydia, who stood center; her mothers' knife at her side now as it belonged to her.
"Welcome home." A pin could have dropped and it would have been heard over the uneasy silence of the onlooking pack barely breathing, waiting to see which way things would fall. For her part, Lydia had absorbed enough to know just how much to emulate to keep herself on the level her mother had. The trick was to be casual until you weren't, always a shock when it came. Thunderclap to make people jump even when they'd seen it a hundred time.
"An Alpha lying puts the whole pack at risk. But she'll always be with us." Walking with the guardians she'd loved so much. Lydia was careful not to implicate him, even if she was sure he had probably been complicit.

Easy way or hard way. She knew exactly what the hard way was, and maybe this time her mother would make her to do it. That wasn't an option. Henry didn't deserve that. But she didn't want to give him up either. Carefully, carefully.
"Can't he just be family, then?" Not so carefully, apparently. Still, her fingers fidgeted in her lap, well aware of the very thin line she was walking. He wouldn't fit in here, but maybe-- her teenage mind decided-- her mother would let her have a little rope if it was Beta asking. Alpha never liked her anyway.
"He wouldn't say anything to get me in trouble, so he'd never say anything about the rest of it." Maybe if she relayed how dangerous things were, he would listen. "I won't bring him here, mama doesn't even like me being around, maybe she'd say it was okay." It was a nice fantasy of not being a glorified pet. "And I won't say anything to anyone. He likes me. If anyone asked, he could just say he doesn't know."
"They broke our laws." A low rumble came from the taller man's throat. "They must be punished."
Jaw clenched as gaze narrowed - he was right. Those FOOLS who lived under the guise of a false world were becoming more of a nuisance than she initially thought. No matter - a plan had already been set in place for this moment;
“Alert the pack - they know what to do.” Her usual HUSHED TONE reverberated through her throat a little heavier, a slow exhale calming it. “It’s time we remind them what happens when they cross into our territory.”
