I Don’t Like Darkness Pt. II
Ashton smiled as he read through the comments. “No, Malachi and I have known each other since we were kids. Pretty much been in love with him since I was nine.” He took a sip of his banana milk and nodded his head along to the song that played softly in the background. This was how most of his lives went. “Blue was the first friend I made when I moved to Korea. I always thought that he was really pretty had a bit of a crush on him but kept it to myself and then we became best friends. So, I guess, I have a habit of falling for my best friends.” He joked and clapped as the song changed. “Does anyone remember this song?! I used to sing along to this and pretend that I was in a music video.” Mouthing the words, he acted out the lyrics of the song before giggling and popping a pretzel into his mouth.
Just as he was gearing up to answer another comment, everything went black. His first instinct was to drop to the ground. He almost expected the sounds of gunshots and screams to echo out. Frantically, he reached for his phone. His breath had began to quicken as his hands shook. What if they were back to finish the job? Memories of searing pain filled his head as his chest began to ache. When he finally found his phone, he pressed the number two.
Kai was on speed dial and he needed him here. He’d saved him last time but who was going to save him this time? He hadn’t even realized that he’d started crying until he tasted his salty tears against his quivering lips. The phone seemed to ring on forever until there was a click and he heard a voice say ‘Hello’ in English.
“Ma-Malachi…Please…I’m s-so scared.”
