what’s up gamers my name’s jay and i hate my siblings smtimes,
and if bruce is leslie's monster because he's the mirror of her guilt then isn't jay bruce's monster. and how it hurts to be someone's fault.
jason dies outside of gotham and he is also taken out of it for years following his resurrection, wandering around the world. death is also a sort of exile. but in the finale of utrh, in that great repetition, an important variable is changed: not only is bruce there, but this time, they’re in the crime alley. jason is bringing his death home. if there’s one thing he can correct, that’s it – that fatal geographical mistake that denied him the dignity of being claimed by his own soil instead.
when waller-bridge said in an interview that fleabag uses honesty as a way of distraction, a weapon... and she was talking about sex there, which obviously does not apply to what i want to get into (i think jason is so painfully awkward when it comes to that he would never bring it up) but "you feel like she's open with you when she's completely hiding." i've been thinking about it in context of how vocal jason is about his own pain and trauma... and about how he often chooses the most shocking, ugly ways of disclosing it... and i'm not saying there's no attempt at connection there, no; but i think that, too, is self-sabotage... he often opens up in a way that also closes the door to an actual vulnerable conversation. there are plenty of details that would be too humiliating for him to speak of, which he leaves out. there are patches in his history he never brings up at all. i think perhaps this is why i disliked his dialogue in tfz so much and the "therapy speak" of it. i don't think jason would ever even distantly reference sheila for example... and that is just one of these most personal traumas that he's hiding.
