People on tiktok genuinely believe "Kinnies" (relating to a character) came before fictionkins (IDing as a character). I actually came across a dumb slime rant video of someone saying "Back in my day, kinning just meant you related to a character" and I had to stop it there because I knew they were going to say some mean shit about fictionkins. It pissed me off to be honest because the fictionkin community was created years before people on tiktok started watering down alterhuman labels.

I'm past life otherkin/fictionkin and trying to be more open about learning other perspectives. Please respond if you consider your kintype (aka: "I am"/identity) to be intentionally chosen!

2. Do you still feel according to your "original" identity outside of your kintype, or is there no dissonance between the two at all?

4. Do you experience memories from your kintype? If so, when did they appear? How do they feel to you?
5. Do you experience any negative effects such as 'kin trauma and dysphoria?

Soo im seeing a lot of #wolfgetsreal discourse and while there are good and important points on both sides I think I am going to agree more with @vagabond-sun here. I understand that beings are afraid of being in the public eye, but in many ways its too late. Many people have some idea of what otherkin are, they just have the *wrong* idea. And even in the reaponse of people thinking species dysphoria doesnt exist, that is a *bad* thing. Because it is placeing in their head that the idea of species dysphoria is *laughable* and we need people to understand that it is real and meaningful. Though its true the movie could fade into obscurity, i dont think the concept is going to, and we may as well correct information as it comes out.
And you know what? Im sick of fading into obscurity. I need to be seen for who i am. No movement got anywhere by sitting silently. This is especially important for people like me who want to physically and socially transition to their true species irl. We need to build a foundation for that, not just within the otherkin community but in society at large. And its kinda offensive @who-is-page suggested that alterhumans havent been making community things, art, music, and social spaces.. bc im p sure weve been doing that since the 80's. It just hasnt been visible to society at large. And theres no reason we cant do those things And go more public.
I agree we shouldnt focus too much on this one movie, we dont really need to blast it all over twitter imo, but commenting on the articles and reaching out to the jornalists who wrote them is a *good* idea because those people already are being presented with a depiction of species dysphoria, and we can present them with an alternative one.
Again I want to convey respect to @who-is-page as there were good arguments made and I was convinced by certain parts of it. I do think however it was out of line to make allegations against alt+h at the end of the post without evidence, since those allegations are *serious* and should have substantial back up evidence.
I feel like i have more to say but im having trouble organizing my thoughts and I dont want to accidentally say the wrong thing but ill leave it at that. I am open to polite discussion on the topic
as an actual fictionkin i realized the main reason why i like using the word "kinnie" for myself (other than reclaiming it from KFF's and anti-kin / trolls)
its cause it sounds soft. its short and simple. its a lot easier to say, for example "i'm a steve kinnie" than "i identify as steve, he is one of my kintypes and i have past life memories of being him"
around people that know what im talking about, "kinnie" is just fine, but saying "i'm a [character/animal] kinnie" out in the wild internet has gotten people assuming i just relate to the character. when no, i AM them.
