This is a very sad situation. Dominicans and Haitians share the same blood and the same island. Only difference is the Haitians embraced their African root whereas the Dominicans denied them. I have had the opportunity to live there and saw this first hand. They couldn't figure out if I was Dominican or Haitian (bc of my natural hair). Blew their mind when I told them I'm American. Next statement was: I didn't know they had Americans with Indian skin. Geez. What are they going to do when they have to construct their own buildings outside in the sun?
